Sigh. Mars. The apple of my eye.

What sort of camera and equipment do you have?

If I take a million shots, I'll maybe get a shot like that once.

All the photos...

Post by tjhkkr »

I received four such photos from a friend using a Nikon D4 in the Rockies somewhere...
All four photos were unreal, but this is the best.

I haven't heard of that Data. Is it a movie?

TJ, these are awesome. I thought you found them on the internet from someone anonymous, hence my skepticism and the photoshop comment. Sorry dude, your friend does excellent work. I'm so jealous he has such great viewing spots for stargazing. [&o]

Yeah TJ, great shots! The Nikon brand of camera has been a staple for many good astrophotographers
for over 40 years and is used at numerous observatories. I had a Hanimex-Practica brand back in my
days of amateur astronony, but I craved for a Nikon. Even a Nikkormat (it's cheaper version) was
good!

Well, he may have photoshopped it... I am just saying I did not photoshop it...
He denies it though...
And out in the mountainous desert/mountain terrain... that is the best place to hope for a shot like that.

Yap, here it is -> http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0414993/

The subject is not related to our topic though it's still a powerfull movie. But the images are absolutely gorgeous.

I do not know if the creature really exists, but someone claims to have received a sonar reading on the Loch Ness creature... :)

Wow, beautiful! I cannot see stuff like that :-( live in the middle of Berlin, Germany.

I had no idea that amateur humans could make such beautiful fotographs! In awe.

(Oh, if anyone believes they "understand" the film The Fountain, please fill me in. I consider myself a cinophile and enjoy arty kinds of films (anything from established artists such as Fassbinder, Lars van Trier, Tarskovsky, Kurosawa or Kubrick to more ecclectic folks such as Tucker or Liebeskind), but I have failed to understand what everyone was raving about in Aronofsky's shot at sci-fi (maybe I should say I really enjoyed The Swan and thoroughly loved The Wrestler). Can someone explain that to me?)
