Can the 11th Indian division recombine?

Post by crsutton »

I have the three brigades in Calcutta and all seem to have the latest squads and devices, yet they will not combine. I have not moved the AT or artillery unit in.

In addition I have a regiment of a US division that does not want to seem to upgrade to the 5.0 call mg from the 20mm gun. Plenty of supply and devices. The other two regiments seem to be OK. Can this be a random event or should it upgrade? Been about a week now.

The ** after the 20mmMk4 Oerlikon indicates that one or both of the other parts are different.

Yes, the other two regiments have upgraded to the 5.0 mg, but not this one. That is my issue.

In a similar problem, I turned off all upgrades of the 5.0mg in all other units except the unit I want to upgrade. I have learned not to separate divisions and allow upgrades while div is separated.

If still having problems attach a save and I'll see if there is an issue.

OK, I will give it another turn or two before I post. But has anyone successfully recombined the 11 Indian division?

One of the brilliant features Michael included with the betas/patches- the ability to draw replacements without upgrading. (Avoids much pool micromanagement)

Yes, but all components (as per the unit organization button) are in the same hex and fit all requirements

Yes. Do have all of the pieces in one hex?

Therein is your problem. To recombine you must have all the units in the same hex/mode/devices/command. Mpve them in & you should be able to combine provided all else matches.

CR,

You may have a data corruption issue.

US Army divisions were not equipped with 20mm Oerlikons. I looked at the US 7th Infantry Division in the editor. In scenario #1 the starting division, its TOE and its TOE upgrade all have device 1126 (0.5in M2HB AAMG x4) -- four "Ma Deuce" Browning .50 caliber machine guns on anti-aircraft mounts. Device 1126 does not upgrade to any other device.

Device 1131 (the 20mm Mk4 Oerlikon) also does not upgrade to any other device. So if a brigade of the 7th Infantry got sticky fingers and somehow acquired a batch of Oerlikons, they are not likely to change back to Ma Deuces. (EDIT: although the "**" on the screen suggests that they are trying)

i routinely get the 11th to combine, but it does require the arty and at units also. if you click on the subunits org button they will report as part of the div.
