Humanlike AI?

Post by Lihnit23 »

I think it was the Boscara in the current game I'm playing. They offered to lift trade sanctions if I gave them a research station I had. I agreed because I like to keep trade going.

Transaction complete, I felt relief. Then 2 seconds later, they reinstate sanctions (or maybe 1 second)!

Sure seems humanlike to me. [:D]

Yeah, there doesnt need to be "better"--as in advanced-- ai as much as a consistent ai. You can offer to be subjugated and the boskara will always accept. Then declare war two minutes later. Then accept your subjugation. Then declare war two minutes later... Repeat ad naseum.

Really, why? Just dont accept subjugation. Finish the war you started.
The bribing mechanic has given me the exact same grief it has given you.
You can call it more human, but I disagree. I wouldnt give that deal to a human player I knew wasnt trustworthy. And if I did and he broke my trust, i would never trust him again and/or punch him in the crotch next time I saw him. So even smart humans tend not to be this eratic and unreliable in games albeit for different reasons.

Subjugation has never worked properly since release but has fell on deaf ears. The subjugation treaty should mean that the empire in question basically becomes your bitch and only answer to your empire diplomatically and should not be able to revolt unless your own empire has unrest issues. The present system is messy and makes no sence because you might as well conquer them outright to save hassle.

Non-sequitor? Or missing context?

Heh? Civ 5 subjugation? There is something like that at all? As for this humanlike AI - I also do not agree that doing such thing is humanlike, and in my opinion if a deal is accepted it should be respected for longer time. Human player would not risk his reputation - he would take note that next time nobody would trust him with anything.

Yup that's exactly why I never bother and just conquer.
