Let's Play Star Trek Picard Era mod

Post by DasTactic »

Igard has finished his Picard Era mod and I've really been hanging out to play it. Here is a 'Let's Play' series I'm putting together:

Great vid, Das!

I'm not sure if you downloaded the Total Conversion Mod? You need that if you want to replace Silvermist with the Crystalline Entity. However, you must backup your original files before installing it. [:)]

Cardassian Federation, LOL!

Looking forward to more Das. Should be interesting to see you run into some well known characters. And some lesser known.[:)]

Oh yes, I forgot..

You mentioned the size of the cruiser being available was quite large in the early game. I've just noticed this myself. I tweaked the ship size factors without really knowing what they do, so some races may be out of balance in this regard.

I'll have to go through those and fix them for the next update.

I'll discuss this a bit more in the mod thread. I don't want to hijack Das's thread. [:)]

Nice work once more Das. I was worried you might have no competition in this game. The Dominion are a threat but don't look like they've established many colonies yet, so taking that independant world might be cruical.

I have a few more observations and possible suggestions concerning your adversaries in this game, but I'll keep my mouth shut and let you figure things out yourself. [:)]

I'm taping a few episodes in advance so there isn't a lot I can do in the short term so it would be interesting to get your thoughts and perspectives - even if I can't change things. Going to try and upload one episode a day (YouTube is really slow to upload to unfortunately).

LOL! I've forgotten what I was gonna say now. Ah yes, you can keep those Remans docile with a good ambassador. They're not really as menacing as they look. The Dominion are your main concern IF they gain more colonies. It'll be interesting to see if you run into more serious opposition. I hope you do, because it might be too easy for you.[;)]

And there was me worried it would be too easy for you! Looks like you've got alot of building and researching to do. I think the Dominion will declare war soon so best get ready!

Here's Episode 4

The Dominion are an interesting race to have in the galaxy. So far they have been very aggressive and we are a fair way behind them. Good fun. :)

Good episode. Surprisingly, I'm finding it as enjoyable as playing!

I don't know how far on you are, I should have remembered to say this earlier, but it would be cool to see you use the additional ship images. These are additional ship images for you to build more ship types if you want them. You can build an Excelsior class, A Defiant class, or Voyager if you want.

The instructions are on the mod page if you're interested. I don't know if you're finished the game yet, but if not, I think you'd enjoy it.[:)]

I'll have a look. I think I'm about three episodes ahead. One problem I did run into was the number of ship designs that suddenly appeared in the design screen.

I don't think there should be too many if you select 'show non-obsolete designs'.

A problem I've noticed is if you make a secondary escort, marking that ship to auto upgrade or retrofit will also mark the other escort to do the same and vice-versa.

It's really just a fun thing to do. It's not going to win you any games, but if you want that long range missile frigate or a ship with any dedicated role and don't want to touch your current design, then it's a nice thing to be able to do.

It might also be useful for designing ships dedicated to destroying Silverwings though I haven't tried that yet.

Have fun. [:)]
