Parusski, I just love RRT 3, but I can't run it on my win 7 64 bit system. What system are running it on?

Rescue Raiders Apple II 1984
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rescue_Raiders

Usually played in an emulator (most recently Apple II emulator inside of an XP VM on OS X with a Saitek Cyborg joystick) but I do unbox the Apple IIc now and again for fun (and frustration with the poorly centering joystick as compared to the Saitek).

It wasn't until 2010 or so that I learned you can save the game in progress, doh!

Very good thread that brings back so many memories about fantastic games with which I spent hundreds of hours.

Unfortunately a lot of them can´t be used under Vista 64 bit [:(].  I think I have to get more knowledge about Dosbox, so that I can reinstall old gems like Master of Magic, Master of Orion, Baldurs Gate and many others that are rotting away in the basement at the moment...´

Thanks for bringing these back to memory[&o]

Regards

Second Front: Russian Front (Amiga version 1989)
Colonization (1993)
Starcraft Broodwars (1997)
Close Combat: The Russian Front (1998)
Age of Empires: Age of Kings (90's)
Germany's unforgivable crime before the Second World War was her attempt to extricate her economy from the world's trading system and to create her own exchange mechanism which would deny world finance its opportunity to profit.

If you have VMware (or similar), you can set up virtual machines that *should* run Dosbox.

Just pick up a front end for DOSBox, then it's easy as all hell. I use DFend; works like a charm...

Master of Magic (That I recently bought from GOG. Thank you Terminus)
UFO: Enemy Unknown (94)
Shogun: Total War
John Tiller's Battleground series (At the moment Borodino)
Age of Sail I and AOS II
Sid Meier's Pirates (87)

These are the old computer games I play at the moment but there are several other old titles that I would like to play when I get the time and get them to work.

Not counting older titles that I've picked up more recently from digital-download sites (especially GOG), the oldest PC games I still play are the first Command & Conquer: Red Alert (1996) and Lords of the Realm II (1996).

Honorable mentions go to Birth of the Federation (1999), Shogun Total War (2000), and Medieval Total War (2002).

For me - lightning simulator (1988) a little beauty of coding - a fully analogue keyboard control for a flight simulator, with gun-camera that automatically recorded 30 frames of 'tracking shots', 'worldwide' VOR, ILS, IFR, limit speeds, g-limits, multiple aircraft configurations, day/night progression, recognisable aircraft to practice dogfighting with/intercept. The 'war' mission was "challenging", being the interception of two single Backfire raids, escorted by two MiG23. And all inside 48K. Still fire it up from time to time.

For me it's probably Civilization III (first released 2001) which I still play regularly as if it were released yesterday. I have on occasion dipped into JTCS (based on 1998 releases) and even played the old Star Craft 1 for a couple games a few months back (also 1998).

But for me Civ III is the most durable game in my collection. Hard to believe its over 10 years old. [X(]

Probably Transport Tycoon or Baldurs Gate. However I am known to have a bash at The Bards Tale on a c64 emulator

Good Old Games... www.gog.com

They sell classic PC games that have been set up so they work on modern Windows-based systems, complete with Windows installers, so you install like you would any normal program. Easy Peasy.

Any chances for a game video?

Play it yourself ;)

Select 'L' and then browse down for Lightning Simulator 1988 'introduction' (for the on-line manual) and Lightning Simulator 1988 for the game.

Cool, I am about to buy Age of Wonders 2: The Wizards Thrown. At one time I owned this game, but it got lost in the confusion of daily life. Great site.
