laptops without dedicated video

This exciting new release is a faithful adaptation of the renowned Conflict of Heroes board game that won the Origins Historical Game of the Year, Charles Roberts Wargame of the Year and the James F. Dunnigan Design Elegance Award, as well as many others!

Designed and developed in cooperation with Uwe Eickert, the original designer of Conflict of Heroes, and Western Civlization Software, the award-winning computer wargame studio, no effort has been spared to bring the outstanding Conflict of Heroes gameplay to the computer. Conflict of Heroes includes an AI opponent as well as full multiplayer support with an integrated forum and game lobby. To remain true to the core gameplay of the board game, the PC version is designed to be fun, fast and easy to play, though hard to master. The game design is also historically accurate and teaches and rewards platoon and company-level combined arms tactics without overwhelming the player with rules.

laptops without dedicated video

Wondering if you dont have a dedicated graphics card will you be able to run it?
I have a new core I3 @ 2.2 ghz with integrated HD graphics, dynamically allocated memory 64- 1.7 . I have 8gigs of memory on board. Anyway to be sure. Still no plans for a demo?

Probably the most graphically challenging game i run is achtung panzer and that runs fine.

As long as it's Dx9 compliant, it shouldn't matter if it's dedicated or not.

I tried it last night on my notebook i3 380m 2.53ghz Intel HD Graphics and it wont run at all. I just recieve this error "No suitable graphics card found. The device creation parameters contain invalid configuation options. This program requires pixel shader 3.0 and vertex shader 3.0". Reading through a post over on the tech and support forums it seems in my the issue is with this chip only having 64mb of dedicated memory/780mb shared memory and the game needing 128mb dedicated memory. Hopefully there will be a workaround to run the game with reduced shaders and textures. Its a surprise to be honest as i run SupCom2, WIC, Company of Heroes on this notebook and they are all better looking realtime 3d games with more going on than COH.
I am running it on my desktop for now though as my card has 1gb dedicated memory and not to be negative it is fun.

Right, you need to check the minimum specs too. Though MJR, did you try running in low resolution mode on your laptop. It's supposed to use less memory though I'm unsure if the min specs already take that into account.

I had a older dual core laptop with a dedicated Nvidia DX9 64mb graphics card which could be enlarged using dynamic memory allocation to 128 or 256...and this game was unplayable. The speed of the game was awful and stability poor (best results after a clean boot). The minimum specs listed by Matrix seem truly the minimum specs. I am now playing it very comfortably on a laptop with a 256mb dedicated ATI card. Of course YMMV.

no dedicated card but I have more than enough memory-bout 400 megs to my video from my 4 gig total ram. Processor is 2.5 dual. The game is fine for me. The chits look great and the game, which shaders off scrolls fast and seamless

We didn't think the requirements were particularly steep after the last round of performance optimizations. 128MB DirectX 9 compliant cards have been on the market for close to ten years I think. With that said, there are a lot of systems out there that were never meant for gaming and were sold with integrated chipsets that can't really handle 3D. Laptops are usually the worst in this regard as the additional changes for power conservation to CPU and graphics chipset mean that their performance is even more limited.

We're going to see if we can implement a Shader 2.0 version in an update since we can see that more people are still using older video cards than we expected, but I can't promise that yet and it will certainly not look as good visually if we can get it working.

I just bought and loaded the game on my desktop and it is running fine. I'll try my laptop later, but I do have a question. I thought there was an option to have a classic boardgame map to accompany using the chits. Am I mistaken or is it somewhere in the preferences where I am missing it?

There is an option for a top-down view, but there is no option for a different style of map.

Hi JP, there's a top-down view mode that gives you a board game perspective. You'll find the button for that once you are in a scenario. You can switch between 3D units and 2D counters and a 3D view or a Top-down view.

how about rethinking the demo plans, this seems like a perfect situation for a demo. Just saying[;)]

Hi guys,

If you were having issues getting the game to run on a system that did not have a DirectX 9 compliant video card, please give the new public beta in the tech support sub-forum a try.

I've got a desktop with Intel® Q963/Q965 Express Chipsets (2.0 vertex/pixel shader support)
but when I run the game it says that there's no graphic card with 3.0 support.
I've downloaded the beta patch from members support for 2.0 support but nothing change.

Any workaround ?

thanks

Dont want to be Mr Obvious but after you have installed the Beta patch are trying to run the game from the new shortcut in your start menu "PS2.0 Shader Conflict of Heroes", not the origonal shortcut?

Please post a new thread in the tech support forum with your DxDiag and we will investigate! Thanks.

thanks, I post all info in the tech forum and yes I used the ps2.0 patch with no luck.
This is the first matrix game that I can't run in my desktop that's probably because of my card is old. [:(]
