At Kota Bharu the 56th Infantry Regiment looks like it has all the supply it needs for the time being so I'm thinking I'm going to move TF 85 to some other hex so that they don't get shot at by the coastal guns again. We got lucky and nobody got hit so far but I'm thinking the luck is going to run out one of these days and some ship is going to get damaged and or sunk and I don't need that.

Sorry to hijack your thread Larry!

Pax,
Your points explained much better than I did about production, "shipping" as I was calling it... My request is about the spreadsheet you and Mike Solli created for production? Is it from Tracker? or Combat Reporter? Self Made? I'm the one responsible for telling him to consolidate his production to 2-3 engines, and focusing on aiframes that carried those engines... I would love to learn more about the spreadsheets.

In my game I have not "crashed" the economy - but it takes around 60% of avail shipping to keep ports from running out of supply/oil. I have alot of Zeroes around Fall of '42 that I was able to use to great advantage battling in SW Pacific and India... My greatest shortage is TK's and DD's to escort TF's, which is highly unhistorical but necessary IMHO.

Thanks for your time and back to you Larry!

Hi, 2 or 3 engines would require tough choices for this side. No disrespect intended but there are plenty of engine factories to meet all your demands of streamlined airframe production.

See the below engine airframe image...

Not to worry Moore dude.....we're all listening to what's new and that engine / airframe image.......Whoa way cool beans. SuluSea dude that's got to be the best thing to hit this thread so far. I'm really impressed. I'm gonna definately use that thing.

EDIT: It's now Wed. may 09 2012 pm and I just got some moves from Rob so I'll be out of pocket for about 24 hours doing my moves for him. He gamme permission to do an AAR about our game so I may post some stuff from that game here if it is about what a new guy runs into that might be entertaining / instructive.......okie dokie? See you in a few.

Tracker gave me two separate alerts about the Vehicle Assembly pool going dry and I boosted it last turn but not enough evidently. I'm thinking I'm going to have to boost production by at least 100 to get the pool to replenish. Everyone concur?

Tracker gave me an alert about the 12th Division being "packed" but I looked at the hex indicated and there's no 12th Division in the hex. WTF?

Thanks SuluSea!
I went back to my game and reviewed what I'm doing, I essentially HAVE given up RD for mass production... on one scale its working (plenty of replacements) but I see where it will "hit the wall"... I'm slaved pretty much to the Zeroes (A6M2 & A6M3), Betty (G4M2 & G4M2A RD-G4M3A), Vals (both) Jakes, Nells (G3M2) Mavis (H6K2 RD-H6K5). I'm not producing or turned off production at the smaller ports to conserve supply and fuel/oil.

Why do I get the feeling that I missed the boat when it came to creating forms/files like this? LOL - now I have all this free time, and see how much everyone has done with this game, I'm truly impressed and awed. As Larry stated about being here to learn... I'm relegating myself back to noob status [:D]

Your display is only showing some of the LCU at Yenki. Use the "slider" on the right edge to see the rest.

Mike created his sheets, I created mine. Mine are all based upon data dumps from the editor (witploadae). In both cases our sheets are self made.

You haven't given him any "bad" advice. Consolidating engines, particularly without a detailed plan, is good advice.

As to our spreadsheets, go to Mikes current AAR and his previous two. We have posted parts of them there. Neither of us shares everything, only because they are too embarrassing. [;)] Really. I haven't seen all of his, but I know they look like mine. They are huge. Make perfect sense to ourselves, but not anyone else. Detail everything.

For example CONVOYS: optimal convoy composition based upon port size, number of xAK's needed, number of convoys needed to move resource, loss factor, etc. For aircraft, complete build plan by month through 6/46 by model by factory including R&D. In addition to plan, also has data input of actual to compare against plan to allow for plan revisions. Ditto for NSY and MSY builds. yaddi yaddi yah.

My sheets are all built around my mod that I am/have built. So they have a few more features that wouldn't be needed for a stock game. I can look at devices used in LCU's to determine total use and time. I also look at TOE and TOE upgrades for all LCU's. yaddi yaddi yaddi.

And no I don't share because I would have no idea how to tell anyone how to use them. Plus they all have to linked to the correct named files. Finally, the package is about 1500M so I have no way to send it to anyone anyway. [:D] Scary how much is there. [X(]

Neither Kanazawa nor Kobe will produce any vehicles with supply under 10,000. Get that up in both cities, then expand vehicle production by 10 at a time in various places where supply is plentiful. You can also convert armaments factories to vehicles (but be selective and careful).

UE, the factories will produce, but they won't expand without the 10K supply.

Larry, you ran out of VEH which is fairly common. You need to turn OFF reinforcement on your units and then selectively turn them back on those units that need VEH now. Unlike allies, IJ is severely short of VEH points for quite a while. This is worse if you lose any armor or MotSupport devices.

Okie dokie.......I did a cut and paste of the entire thing and I STILL couldn't find the 12th Div. anywhere. Now what?

Is it normal to have spoilage on those small bases that don't have an airfield yet and only a level 1 port? I've got a lot of those and can't, appearently, put any more than 3K supply on them.

Yep, you have to manage your supply offload while you build the base infrastructure up.

I've been using a simple HTML document to try to keep track of where Rob's subs have attacked me so I can re-route the convoys around that spot and what the results of my ground combat has been so I can tell whether or not to do it again or go ahead with my DA and so on. I've put together such a report for the 02Jan42 turn and you can open it up by clicking on the link below.

I stand corrected. It also won't repair the damaged vehicle assembly without 10k supply. He wants 20 vehicles being built between the two cities, but will only get 10 until they are repaired.

I've turned on the stockpiling of supply in both those cities so pretty soon now, hopefully, we'll get about 10K in both of them.

I finished moving the TF's and rearranging the aircraft missions, etc. and pulled the trigger and after the combat phase returned control to me I got some Tracker alerts that some LCU's arrived in Hong Kong. I've reassigned them from "move" to "bombardment" etc. so the battle for HK has started.

EDIT: There were two ART units that wouldn't switch to the bombardment mission and I'm not entirely sure why. Are they low on supply or something?

Hi Larry, are you getting any spoilage in the home islands as well? Usually with my changes to R&D,airframes and engines I'm forced to suffer through a little spoilage until engineers get in place. I have some screens of home island engineers and all the starting forces that need to be shipped out at Palau, Samah, Pescedores ,Cam Rahn Bay and so on... Also included would be unrestricted units that start in the home islands. I print them and use them to write on and plan. It won't be until later today but I can post them here if you feel like it will help your game .

Those two DD's that were threatening the landings at the north end of PI are disappeared. DD Pillsbury is definately sunk and I'm pretty sure about DD Pope too. Pope wasn't listed in the list of ships sunk but I think it was sunk. Anyway, the landings have started and I'm moving some planes and engineers that direction now.
