No movement/attack

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

No movement/attack

Post by Marshal Villars »

This one was a real puzzle for me. I think I ordered the attack at about 08:00 on Day 2. This is the first screenie from the saved game after that.

Day 3. 06:00. Still no movement. Even though fatigue isn't that bad.

Can't really say, but the presence of enemy to flank and rear within sight and <600m range seems a possible culprit. I'd be tempted to detach and move/probe the B.80 with max losses/either to the high ground near the HQ or along the road to drive off the A/C.

Time to get that supply base out of here with enemy approaching from the rear...

(fatigue levels shown on counter)

After half a game day of screwing around with the orders trying to get him to move, I made one last attempt towards the end of the day and then just let it sit there until I saw movement.

16:30 Day 4

After that the unit finally started moving.

However, it is possible that he didn't move much on Day 3 because it was surrounded by the enemy.

But the entire time its fatigue was relatively low. It was one of the most exhasperating things to happen to me during my game. With the exception of the next event...

Try shortening the end time... you still have a week's worth of wiggle room for your move in the second image...

With only 'just' enough time, max losses, min aggro and quickest/fastest the move might be more reliable.
If you still get the same delays with 'only' 10 hours or so available from start to finish (to allow for detours/delays) then we might have a problem.

The destruction of an overly exposed 82nd Div HQ.

I had tried for hours (game time) to get this thing out of the front lines. Nothing I did worked. It succumbed to the enemy assaults a few hours later (after having not moved -- on its own or with my orders).

Why the Div General would think he has to be at the sharp end of the group is beyond me. Suppression is high. But I don't know how he got to be in front in the first place.

So, if I reduce end time, this will put pressure on the unit to do it faster?

Yes... unless the start time unavoidably slips and the order is cancelled as impossible [8|].

You are saying do this NOW, rather than "when you have a moment..."

For the l;ast patch or was it #2 we added code that prevents support units from entering to within a certain range of enemy threats. IIRC it was based on the distance ahead along their route and was something like a kilometre or so.
