Question about wounded conditions & combat

This exciting new release is a faithful adaptation of the renowned Conflict of Heroes board game that won the Origins Historical Game of the Year, Charles Roberts Wargame of the Year and the James F. Dunnigan Design Elegance Award, as well as many others!

Designed and developed in cooperation with Uwe Eickert, the original designer of Conflict of Heroes, and Western Civlization Software, the award-winning computer wargame studio, no effort has been spared to bring the outstanding Conflict of Heroes gameplay to the computer. Conflict of Heroes includes an AI opponent as well as full multiplayer support with an integrated forum and game lobby. To remain true to the core gameplay of the board game, the PC version is designed to be fun, fast and easy to play, though hard to master. The game design is also historically accurate and teaches and rewards platoon and company-level combined arms tactics without overwhelming the player with rules.

Question about wounded conditions & combat

Post by JFalk68 »

I searched all over the game manual for a listing of the wounded conditions but I could not find any. I went full blast into the training scenarios so I am trying to wrap my head around the system...I think I understand it.

My observations are that units never really lose any men when wounded, or maybe they do in an abstract way but you can rally the unit back to normal strength if given enough time. Coming from playing some HPS Squad level games where you can lose men in a group the unit/chits here just suffer from a reduction of combat values and if you can get a 2nd wound on a wouned target they will be destroyed.

- You can destroy a unit outright with a really good roll of the dice, +4 over what is needed to get a hit (group movement with the attack bonus from adjacent friendly units would help to achieve that +4 right?)

- Some wounds can't be removed so you can't assume a unit will go back to normal, that unit will always be vulnerable to another hit.

I think that's about it, do I have it right? Thanks!

I think if inf units rally is successful so the damage counter is removed he will be as good as new again, i dont think he is more vulnerable from then on because of it. I know that when i have had a vehicle immobilised and it has a damage counter i have not been able to remove the damage counter. Maybe there is an action card or a engineer ability to repair in a later scenario.

There are a few vehicle hit counters that are permanent and can't be rallied. These represent real gun or track damage etc. All foot hit counters can be rallied. 2 hits can mean many things. Routed could be one of them. Whatever the actual effect units always get pulled from the board when a second hit is achieved. They are considered no longer combat worthy.
