Missing base loss check on non-para transport

Post by erstad »

I can upload a save if needed, but it's pretty straightforward.

2 day turns

Using a IJN float transport to transfer a non-para infantry unit to a dot base owned by Japan, but with allies in the hex

Day 1 ground phase, allies attack and take the base.

Day 2 air transport phase, the transports continue transferring the non-para infantry unit, which then performs a shock attack in the day 2 ground phase.

Not sure if this is specific to two day turns or is more generic, but it seems there should be a check in the air transport phase - if a previously entered troop transport command would not be allowed if it the user tried to enter it on that turn, it should be cancelled.

Float planes can fly in troops to a coastal hex (regardless of owner) - land on water and paddle ashore.

Yes, they work very nicely that way.

If I had troops there, yes - but if Allies own the base and there are no friendly troops in the hex?

It is designed to allow movement to an enemy hex - as invading. I'll raise it on the dev forum.

Whoa, I didn't know about this, but I think I like it. Yes, I'm sure I like it. Please do not change this.

Edit in:

I've tried to do this several times now with differant units and places, but it will not work. When I try to select a destination hex I get the following message "NO FRIENDLY AIRBASE AT SELECTED LOCATION". [:(]

Is there somethig special you need to do to make this work?

I'll check it out.
It could be the order of tests that is nullifying this - check for non-para before it checks for seaplane transport present.

Well, if it's WAD then the question would be why one can't issue an order to do this.

Maybe another way to view this is that it's inconsistent to allow an order to carry to day 2 if one could not have issued that same order manually.

But only worth as much attention/energy as you see fit.
