Here's Manchukuo Infantry that's eligible to be purchased. Note the categories on my personal notes I color coded these with a highlighter in the order they should be bought according to their experience & value to the war effort and also wrote what these boys should be prepping for. This should be helpful to all IJ players that don't have it, hopefully I won't assist the other side too much in posting it...[:D]

The days you see is how many days they have to wait to get other units to get on the map for combining.

I appreciate this SuluSea dude.

Larry, I'd like to add don't add any replacement to units intended to be purchased as they will cost more in PPs. It's many ways to skin a cat I globally turn off all replacements and turn on replacements to those in the thick of it and/or near the front lines or intended to be then work my way back...

Something else you might want to think about if you're in sub infested waters (since at wars start ASW skill is much lower than search) is drop some float planes down to sea search 1 to 2 k to help spot or raise DL of subs. No scientific experiments but I have to believe it will help prevent attacks.
Um......I've been running my ASW planes at 100' ASL to hopefully increase the DL of those submerged pests. Is 1,000' better? If so I'll do it.
The concensus in the discussions on this is that 1000 - 2000 is the optimal. I run at 2000.

No, actually that makes a lot of sense. I can see that as a way of funneling the replacements to those units that really need them instead of indiscriminately throughout the entire force. Cool. Thanks.

I've got bou cou transport and tanker missions going back and forth conveying resources and oil busy as beavers. I'm downloading most of it in Tokyo as it's the closest level 10 port to where I'm uploading the stuff. I figure I can grab most of the biggest pile of it here in about a month and then taper off on the missions as it gets produced in the ensueing weeks. Lots of Resource Centers on Hokkaido and some oil in Sakhaliln.

Hey Larry, nice to see you learning WITPAE. I've only played this game several months in the grand campaign against the AI, so I can learn from your postings. [:)]

You should mention some things:
*You need to know where to rearm your BB/CVs.
*Babeldaob is very low on fuel at campaign start. If you plan to refuel your fleet there you should send tankers with fuel to Babeldaob.
*I sent an AR from homelands to Truk to support ship repair. Because there are no possibilities of ship reparing around Truk.
*Keep an eye on your engine pool, the tracker tool is a great help for planning engine production.
*Decide where to put your Air HQs and base forces. You need your air forces in forward bases to ensure fighter protection and get good ship hunting results of your betties with torpedos. I think the Air Flotilla HQs provides torpedo support for the same hex, the Air Fleet HQs provides torpedo support for 5(?) hexes. Your fighter needs at least an airfield level 1 and your bombers needs level 3(?).

I'm really interested on how you are managing your industry and especially the resource flow.

Larry -

Glad to see you up and running on all cylinders!

Very nicely illustrated AAR; really helps to see the action on map. You, Sir, are on the right track; and have some very experienced players on hand to give good info and guidance.

Keep at it, Sir!

Thanks for the kind words Jim dude. And yeah, I think it really really does help to see the action on the map. That one I did about moving the CVL Ryjio just east of Leyte there was the money shot for me. I'm getting a lilttle bit older now and can't keep so many facts in my mind as I used to so doing a cut and paste like that helps me visualize where everything is and what's safe and what's not and so on. I'm hoping to use this tool to produce a better game in the long run. Plus it's fun.

Let's all learn together. This game is fabulous and deserves a more thoughful approach.

Yeah, I'm finding out that Cam Rahn Bay isn't the ideal place for that. I'm thinking a level 7 port should do it. I'll keep you guys posted on what I find out. It's too easy a solution to just read it in the manual.

I've got several tankers fueling up with BubbleDrop as the intended destination even as we speak. Truk too.

Good idea. There's no ship repair yards in the Truk area and all the major work has to go to the far north which is a contributing factor into why Japan lost the war IMHO. I can understand the thinking at the time however ( that higher higher didn't want a major shipyard to fall into the Allied hands that close to the home islands ).
ORIGINAL: sj80

When I boosted the Kate production I boosted the engines also. And there's a new release of Tracker now 1.9.1 and I haven't fired it up yet but I'm excited about this fantastic product. It makes keeping track of your WITP game a hell of a lot easier. Plus it makes for really sexy screenshots.

I'm thinking I need an HQ at Rabaul so I'm planning on moving the one at Truk there even as we speak.

I flying by the seat of my pants. That plus I'm getting uber-good advice from an excellent handful of experts about it.It's turning out easier than I thought it might be. That's a scary thought......it suggests that I'm missing something important and my economy is going to come crashing down in the next two game weeks.

I just now put three more AMc's into Tokyo's shipyard for conversion to PB's. Maybe I'll have enough to escort all my TF's here pretty soon.

I'm sending the entire 4th Div. to Midway just on the off chance that it'll take a division to take Midway. I have a sub driving up into the Midway harbour even as we speak to snoop around and see what's there. The 4th Div should arrive at Midway in about a month give or take some days.

I have several reason for wanting to move TF 271 out of the Iba hex: (1) there's 71 coastal guns there for crying out loud. (2) there's only one ship left unloading troops and the rest of them have just a handful of supplies to download. (3) yesterday all the coastal guns missed my boats and my luck is running out.

Two things .. one, that is 2 hexes per phase not turn ... however something that is very very slow is in that stack ...((14 knts X 24 hours) / 46 )/2 = 3 hexes per phase .. something is 10 knts in that TF...

Some of the IJFB's in this group unload TF's like this and reload with xAK's and xAPs of like speeds .. especally the 14 knt ... The differece between 14 knts and 10 knts is 2 hexes per day ... it adds up ..

Making sure like speeds of platforms is really critical with surface action groups ...

Just as I suspected the Allied coastal guns connected last night and one of my boats caught some shells and is on fire. The KB isn't far away and there's a BB headed this way and I'm thinking maybe I can bombard them enough to keep them from wiping out my land forces there long enough for me to ship some more land troops to Wake. That sub that is patrolling in Midway can't see any land forces there ( yet ). I'm going to retire the Kongo Maru to Kwajalene and send the PB's and DD's and a CL to start escorting the Midway force as they have no escorts yet and they're getting close to a place where they might need some. Meanwhile I need to see about some more land forces for Wake.

I had no idea. I'll break down the slower movers from the faster movers and see if I can boost the speeds of the involvants.

Okie dokie.......I broke down the Midway force into three separate TF's depending on speed. What in the world was I thinking sending a TF to Midway w/o any escorts? I donno. It made sense at the time but now.....I'm not so sure. But I have some escorts headed their way. ETA probably within three or four days.

I think all these Allied subs leaked out of Manila despite my minefield. They are beginning to be a pest and I'm going to have to stop the war and do something about them pretty soon. So far I've been trying to route my boats around them and they are moving in directions contrary to what the tooltip indicates I'm thinking.

I've just about hunted down and dispatched all the Manila leakers. Just a couple of them left. And that supposed Allied CA threatening my Miri / Brunei landings has dissappeared. I guess it was all part of a disinformation campaign designed to scare the bejesus out of me.

Again the Betty's get separated from their escort and raid before the sweep is performed. I'm going to have to turn the Betty's off until after the sweeps have done their job.
