Gah, I just realised you are not playing Scenario 1/2. Somewhat embarrassing! [:D]

So disregard my previous comment about Oz. I have absolutly no clue what your scenario does!
[:D]
It is almost scenario 1, the exceptions were made by me with USS America agreeing to them.

At least USS America agreed to my proposed HR about Russia, that allied planes are only allowed to fly from bases that have an equal amount of aviation support of the air group's nation.
So when I force him to shift his airgroups to another base, they must stand down until there's enough aviation support of the same nation in that base, again.
This should reduce the threat by US 4Es significantly.

Will you use that rule for a game when you play Allies? [:D]
[:D]
That's open for negotiations... [;)]

Yes, we can add this rule to our game. But somehow stupid to explain in length how I think Russia can be defeated, knowing that you are tempted by the idea to attack Russia while starting a PBEM against me right now... [X(]

We will have a long time to go before a Russian campaign could ever begin, and if I did that, it would be because a lot of other things went well. I'm going to only worry about those first things for now. And if you do the Russian thing here I couldn't very well try it all against you could I? You'd have quite a head start.

Just about to the exciting stuff in doing the turn. Where do I send things!

I forgot how much there is to alter and rework in the beginning. It's a slog but I do prefer to get it right. I don't think I'd like the late start for that reason. And it adds a lot of tension to think about all of the things you could do to throw a wrench or two in the works.

I'll start an AAR thread today. Stop in to say hello before it becomes restricted if you like.

Not mutch happend. I retreated my Carriers a little to avoid any night combat against surface combats. Mike has showed me that he is always trying to fire guns against flattops.
All that should've been left from the enemy were about propably 10 to 12 DDs, 2 CLs and transports. So nothing was worth the risk of getting a CV sunk by a lucky Torpedo or 6in hit in the magazine of a carrier.
I was thinking he might run his warships at full speed towards the solomon chain in the east, that's what I would've done. But again, I thought getting ground forces on ships seemed to be more interesting, now. The result of my defensive move was only one xAP sunk, as he seems to send all shipping to Townsville. My recon even spottetd CLs off the port. So next turn, both CV-groups will strike the port as a secondary mission.

The invasion force for PM passed the lurking SS off Rabaul and will reach PM in a few days. The city should be mine within a week.

Pacific:
One of my AMCs meets an enemy CV three times in night combat. Unfortunaltey, it was neither aggressive, nore strong enough to go for the CV and took a couple of DD hits. In the daytime, the enemy's DBs finish the AMC.

China:
In the first next to Changsha, three of my divisions force a Chinese Corps and HQ into retreat. The profit is significant, with 63 squads destroyed and 56 disabled. I suffer 110 disabled though, so I will stay in the hex to recover my strength.

Coral Sea:
Last turn, I retreated to avoid any risk against potential surface threats, while I almost knew that all he had left were a couple of DDs and two CLs. My fear was, that those two BBs in a sighting might be for real, as it was theoretically possible.
So I decided: strategic victory achieved by preventing the reinforcment for PM to arrive and by two CVs sunk.
I should've left it this way...

Last turn, I thought it was propably dumb to retreat and let him unload the remnants of the convoys. So I decided to attack the shipping in and off Townsville. My attackers met heavy resistance and I lost dozends of planes with their valuable crews. Together, 19 Zero, 17 Vals and 16 Kates went down in the heavy air combat above the city, which he - as I would've done - protected by every fighter groop in range.
The result of that heavy losses wasn't just 52 planes lost, but also 14MIA and 24KIA... All I got in return was 2DDs, 2AMs, 5XAK and 7xAKLs. A meager 20 vehicles was destroyed on the ships. so that was really a bad tradeoff! As CL Leander took one hit, It would've been better to send the CAs and BBs in, than to let my carrier planes get slaughtered above enemy ground.

Lesson Learned:
Stay consequent! If I decide that it is not worth it, it is not worth it! An attack the day before would've caught significant amounts of troops on the ships, some ships still at sea and propably a weaker CAP. So either go in immediately, or hold on to the descision that was made!
Without any doubt: I am the spawn of evil - and the Bavarian Beer Monster (BBM)!

And again, a mistake by me reveals itself. One convoi was almost at PM. I expected it to run for the base and unload as much as possible, but I only found one ship two days ago. I should've gotten the notion, that the ships haven't vanished but were likely heading for the first option to unload instead. THey were, at Portland Roads.

Good news.

Good move going for the mountains in China. You'll need more than one division to go farther. It is a huge boon to get this as early as possible if he lets you.

Right now, 540 troops and 4 guns are at Tsuyung. I will propably drop Paratroopers on the base next turn.
2 Divisions and 1 Regiment will start attacking Nanning in approx. 3 weeks while the 104th Division comes marching from Canton.

I am also thinking about attacking Changsha, soon. By hunting his scattered troops in the open, I not only routed 2 Corps off the city, but semi encircled another one that will be attacked within days. After that, I can bring 6 Divisions + a few tanks and about 10 artillery units. Do you think that's enough for Changsha?

Two regimens are marching north from Amoy while three other come from Shanghai.

What's in Changsha? Depends on what he has. Also, the threat of crossing behind Changsha is almost as potent as moving into the city itself. Do you have recon of all of the cities in the river area around Changsha? It's so easy for him to reinforce, but if you bring enough to look like you're tackling the city and trying to encircle it, it could force him to consider simply pulling back.

22 units, 136k men, 342 guns, detection 9/10

The other citys are almost not reconned. This early, the backyards aren't clean, yet. So he might as well go to encircle me!

It might propably be better to crush a few more units and then retreat back to Wuchang to concentrate on Sian, first.

Subs:
At Wetar, SS Seal duds one of my xAK, again! The sub must be out of torpedoes, soon.

China:
Nothing today, but my forces will attack two units tomorrow and conquer the undefended Chuhsien.

Coral Sea:
KB moves south and sinks a few Australian AMs. Heavy air attacks on the KB happen, but the CAP proves superior, except against the unstoppable B-17s. The enemy looses 80 planes against only two A2A. Nice!

The siege of PM:
A first DA is unsuccessfull, but reduces the fortifications. Tonight, 4 BBs will bombard the base, MKBs Kates will fly ground attacks from 15k feet tomorrow. The DA that will follow hopefully will bring the base into my hands.

Not much happening. I destroyed another 100 Chinese squads, lost a few Ki-21 over the Burma road. That's about it...

Subs:
Japanese BBs retreating to Rabaul are spotted by a sub, but it is attacked by the escorts before it can get a shot.
KB is shortly behind and ends the turn near Rossel Island. I took obvert's example to use the KB for ASW when it is guaranteed that there'll be no combat. The result are 5 reported hits on subs. That should hopefully mean one going down, as three of the hits were reported in the same hex.

China:
A sweep by our Oscars from Mandalay shoot down two of the AVG's P-40s for the loss of none of our own. The 18th division has reached that hex as well and will attack the three units there tomorrow. The firepower will hopefully be enough to destroy the units.
Two attacks near Paotao and Changsha kill more than 300 squads and force one Chinese Corps to surrender. Banzai!

I found in an early test that about half of the reported hits were false, but later, and if the crews are 60-70 ASW skill, that should surely go up! Even attacking assures their DL is at max and they will cause no harm.

Looks like the march up the mountains is going well. Have you reconned Kunming and Tsuyung to see what is ahead?

The destruction of all of those planes near OZ will surely help any attempt at the coast. He can't really match you in air power over there. Are you still thinking of going in to Brisbane?
