Fortress Monroe?

Fortress Monroe?

Why is Fortress Monroe not on the sea coast? My map shows it in the middle of the Rappahanock area, NE of Richmond. It should be opposite Norfolk. Is there something wrong with my graphics display? If so how can I fix it? I also can seem to access it via sea, or I am not doing it right.

If you dig back in the forum 4-5 years you'll find your answer to this. But, to save you time...

Forts on the FOF map are dynamically placed, rather than fixed to a precise point. You may have noticed -- or if you haven't, now you will -- that they move around a bit when multiple units are in a province, so that all can be seen clearly. So Fort Monroe's location is a bit abstracted, purely for graphics-related reasons.

I just purchased the game so I am climbing the learning curve... I also noticed that as the Union I just lost Fort Pickens, which never fell during the war because it was very very very hard to get at from the land side, as is Fortress Monroe. A strange way to approach these forts, and you can't get at them from the sea, right?
