What's Up Matrix?

Post by Greywulf »

Not a big poster but have purchased many, many Matrix games. I have the boardgame versions and took the plunge for the computer version meeting the minimum specs advertised at the Slitherine and Matrix website.

I got the message program requires pixel shader 3.0 and vertex shader 3.0. I downloaded the beta patch also. What's up? There is no mention of those two requirements.

Product Requirements :
Minimum Requirements
OS: Windows XP SP3, Vista, 7
CPU: 1GHz
RAM: 1GB
Video/Graphics: 128MB DirectX 9.0c Dedicated Video Card
Sound: DirectX 9 Supported
Hard disk space: 2GB
CD-Rom: Yes, for physical version only
DirectX version: 9.0c
.NET Framework: 3.5
XNA Framework: 3.1
Peripheral hardware: Mouse, Keyboard

OK I found the 2.0 shader startup. Game loaded with 2.0 shader but I get everthing loaded cards. buttons, etc.,except maps. No maps, everything else except the game map I'm supposed to be playing on. Anyone experience or know why this is happening? Thanks.

DirectX9.0c compatible video cards should all support shader model 3.0. DirectX9.0 cards do not; they only include shader model 2.0. That little 'c' at the end indicates support for shader model 3.0.

Please post your DxDiag report. Unfortunately shader models are not the only thing different between DirectX9.0c and DirectX9.0 compatible cards. There were a variety of ways of implementing things under 9.0 that were standardized under 9.0c, so some 9.0 cards are more compatible with the 9.0c standard than others. Consequently our support for shader model 2.0 will be more or less successful from card to card. We can't guarantee 9.0 compatibility unfortunately.
