I agree with the Cap'n. The pathetic thing is that I think someone's already posted it and I remembered. In with the Corunna Downs photography memorization, out with Kreb's cycle...[8|]

Good call Cap!

Corruna Downs it is. Hard to imagine the 380th bomb group flew a few missions from there.

Plenty of space...no good roads or rail connections I can see though.

Where's all the hangers and stuff ?? Or is this a more recent photo after everything got torn down ? It is indeed hard to believe that anything could've been stationed let alone flown from there [X(]

Hangers and stuff?? This was a forward operating airfield in Australia in 1942....

The winding road at the top of the picture is the taxiway and there would have been revetments (if they were lucky) amongst the trees. The dispersals would wave been similar to the picture below (taken at Townsville).

Western Australia is a long way from the Arsenal of Democracy...

Considering how far inland it was- they'd be lucky to have trees big enough to park a plane under- much less revetments.

Yes I know some parts of Australia are very remote from major population centres. Must've been a bugger re-supplying it I would imagine [8D]
