New revised Conflict of Heroes Beta Update v1.5

This exciting new release is a faithful adaptation of the renowned Conflict of Heroes board game that won the Origins Historical Game of the Year, Charles Roberts Wargame of the Year and the James F. Dunnigan Design Elegance Award, as well as many others!

Designed and developed in cooperation with Uwe Eickert, the original designer of Conflict of Heroes, and Western Civlization Software, the award-winning computer wargame studio, no effort has been spared to bring the outstanding Conflict of Heroes gameplay to the computer. Conflict of Heroes includes an AI opponent as well as full multiplayer support with an integrated forum and game lobby. To remain true to the core gameplay of the board game, the PC version is designed to be fun, fast and easy to play, though hard to master. The game design is also historically accurate and teaches and rewards platoon and company-level combined arms tactics without overwhelming the player with rules.

Downloaded and tried to run it and I get an error message that its not compatible with my version of windows.  I am running Vista 64bit. I had no problems with 1.4 & 1.2 installing so I am not sure whats going on?

The windows file icon was different for 1.5 then the prevois updates also. The 1.4 icon had a monitor with a small dvd at the base, 1.5's icon was a white box with some green in it, maybe the patch got uploaded in the wrong format?

Thanks

XP home SP3, downloaded and installed 1.5 without any problems. Started game and play through 1st tutorial.

I downloaded it again and still can't run it :(  Maybe this version isn't compatible with Vista 64?

Sounds like your anti virus is changing the exe file into something that you can't run or your user settings.

No luck, still the same.  I had the warnings before on the last 2 patches and they still worked.  I only got the Suspicious.Mystic the 1st time I tried to download the file, not the 15 times after.  I still get a warning from Norton but it still says its the wrong version.  /shrug

It's still an exe file for me, nothings changed on it for me

Are you 32bit?

Yes 32 bit. My download is the typical blue monitor and disc symbol that you described above. Your description of a white box with some green makes me think that your Norton has quarantined the file and changed it to a non-exe file.

Thanks for your time Junk2drive but I just can't get it to work.  I have turned off smartscreen filter and my Norton and I keep getting the same file over and over.  Maybe I have to wait till it's an official patch.

That's very odd - the file is definitely fine, but it sounds like Norton is doing something unusual to the download. It definitely works fine on 64-bit systems, including Windows Vista. You may have to more fully disable Norton and try re-downloading with a different browser after deleting the file you already downloaded and any temporary files.

Thanks Erik, I used my firefox browser this time to download it and the patch worked perfectly! Something with IE 9 was not allowing it to download/run properly. Problem solved!

On the patch, took me 30 seconds to figure out I needed to restart the game for the new terrain to take effect :)

Thanks again Junk2drive and Erik

I uploaded the Beta yesterday.

I have been in and out of the Multiplayer Lobby all day, no one is in there. About 2 hours ago I tried to go in the Lobby and it stated I had to update to Version 5, so I figured that official Patch came out. I did the AUTO UPDATE thing from CoH and everything seemed fine. Everything works fine also.

I do not see anything on the Forum about the official patch. Am I missing something?

No matter, everything is great.

PS - I think some weird things are happening when you and the enemy occupy the same hex, but I will save that for another day.

The official patch should be up now. The in-game message announcing the new patch apparently went up a couple hours before the in-forum message.

You may need to arrange times to meet other people in the lobby either in the in-game forum or in the Matrix forum as there aren't always people hanging out there.
