Now the victorious units are redeploying to expel the IJA unit near to Kweilin and to meet the new vector of the additional IJA unit that was underway to reinforce the now defunct river-crossing. That radio source target is back, more or less on course. Unfortunately the two subs patrolling in front of them are not currently on station. It was a good day in the air overall, 15 to 1 for us. Some of those were near Tennant Creek and some over Cox's Bazar. Near Tennant Creek the air attacks of both sides have been getting more and more effective.

The 2/5 and 2/6 Armoured Regiments are in tough shape from these attacks. The USA 192nd Tank Bn is about 3 days out and together they should be able to defeat the two recon Rgts they are facing. There are two infantry regiments on the road to Tennant Creek but they might only arrive at the battlefield when Imperial reinforcements arrive, so the goal is to push them back ASAP. Tomorrow No76 Sqn will provide LRCAP from Tennant Creek (two hexes distant), while the 80th FS will bring the P-38E into action for the first time by sweeping from Alice Springs.

Meanwhile, IJN subs are flowing down the eastern coast of Australia. The USA 32nd ID is currently 40nm out from Sydney trying to dodge one of them. The other convoy, mostly carrying aircraft, will make Melbourne tonight.

For a while now Sallies and their escorts have been chewed up by CAP from Chittagong when attacking our troops at Cox's Bazar. Today again they were dealt a blow with 9 Sallies and 6 Oscars failing return or land safely. Near Lashio the haggard, fleeing rabble held off the IJA 1st Tank Regiment in its effort to run them down. They should all be able to leave the hex tomorrow before being attacked again, doubly important as an infantry regiment has shown up to press the matter.

There are now 10 enemy units astride Katha, but their direction of movement is unobserved. Back in China, I forget to mention in yesterday's entry that Nanning is being abandoned. The undermining of the position outside of Liuchow makes that the best move as those same Imperial units are moving to block the road between the two cities.

In Australia the Empire's reinforcements to the small tank battle 92mi from Tennant Creek have been sighted, although their size and composition remain a mystery. The USA 192nd Tank Bn has joined with the Aussies and they will attack together tomorrow. Blenheims and B-17s will assist, while B-26s interdict movement of the closest reinforcement in hopes of keeping it from arriving at the most inopportune time.

Hmmm, I'm not sure the game code does that. I was wondering if maybe there was a more capable sighting by long range recon out of Wake Island. Hopefully of course it is not an invasion force sneaking up through or around search coverage!

Yeah, I'm not really sure the SIGINT on an allied unit would change the DL, I just find it very strange that the SIGINT report includes detections of allied units [including major bases like San Francisco] at all. Doesn't anyone vett these things before they are presented to us admirable admirals?

It usually just gives a hex reference and when you check it out, it's on top of an allied base [or TF]. Caveat - I haven't checked SIGINT that closely since the big upgrade a short time ago so it may have been fixed and I am just not aware. Prior to that I had just gotten the game was studying every detail to try and understand how to use it in a campaign. That's when I saw the occasional SIGINT on own bases and TFs.

More IJA units have arrived 1 hex NW Katha and presumably others are on the way. Likewise 3 more units have arrived outside of Lashio. Almost all our units need just tomorrow to link up with the armour at Bhamo. The exception is the 45th Indian Brigade, which will attempt to run in move mode to keep up. Air attacks thwarted that effort to catch up today. A CA/CL bombardment went in against our troops at Cox's Bazar, and the effects were minor. The other news concerning Burma is that at least 2 IJA units have moved into China toward Paoshan. At least 3 more units have yet to commit to either Paoshan or the pursuit of the Allies falling back on Bhamo.

While uncertain, it looks like there could be a division plus a regiment bearing down on Tennant Creek along with those two vanquished recon regiments. In defense we will field about the same aggregate combat power, but with more and better tanks.

Funny you should ask! That's the very question I was pondering this turn. Just started flying in supplies to supplement those over the roads. An airfield size was added just a couple of tuns ago, which added 100 to the daily cap. I think it's 600 now. Given that all other bases are too far for short range pull, that's pretty puny.

I just don't know.
