So south of Rostov the hordes advance! The 5th Tank Army strikes as well and smashes the poor Hungarians [8D] There should be lots of victims here (weak allies that is). I also have a Cavalry Corps, which has been attached to the Caucasus Front HQ itself.

And another decision. I was keeping the 1st and 4th Shock Armies (STAVKA) south of Rostov. I think I have enough forces (Southern and Caucasus Fronts) to push the e-hordes here therefore I will be sending them to... NW Stalingrad [;)]

Klydon, I am pretty certain this 62nd never appears (well, it should be on the 1942 scenario, I guess). And I know this because the first thing I did when I bought the game and started looking at the OOB was trying to find this 62nd Army (the one fighting in Stalingrad etc. etc.) [8D] I even remember that I had asked on the forum why this army [famous because they were at the right place and moment: stubborn resistance + German 6th Army surrounded and destroyed] was not on the OOB. You have to buy it, I was told.

Well, as I expected, the buffer hexes in the Massacre Zone proved to be a nice shield (for Marquo). In fact in the northern part I could not attack a single enemy unit. But still, he is giving up land and that's ok (as per the plan). Thus I managed few attacks this turn.

As you can see, not a single attack. I am hurling the hordes the same. I have to encourage him to keep running. Run Forest run!

In the center of the attack zone some attacks were possible. If not, I hurl the pixeltruppen the same.

In the area NW of Stalingrad attacks were fruitful. And in fact I am interested in attacking here... to provoke his armored hordes: enemy units adjacent to panzers were trashed and forced to retreat. Now all I want is Marquo charging like a wild bull [:D] Let's see if that works because three tank armies and lots of cavalry corps are waiting.

By the way, in all the screenshots you see a multicolour front. The Front armies are well organized, maximum 18:18. It's the tank brigades and cavalry divisions wich create this apparent chaos. As I had said, I must use everything I have. If I want to get to Berlin I must get to Kursk (more or less). No one will be allowed to stand idle! Succeed or drop dead.

Oh, and loooong time I didn't show what's going up north. Well basically nothing. But I am starting to pay some attention to the Finns...

Yesssss [:D] As for the mixed front colours, not really. What you see in this area is Voronezh and then Don Fronts armies. I have brought of course some Stavka armies + the tank armies + the Cavalry Corps (attached to Stavka right now) already mentioned. It's the tank brigades and cavalry divisions that brought this colourful thing. I simply can't afford the APs (I'm still focusing on the creation of rifle divisions) [8D]

I am not really a cheap bastard, me pockets are empty, that's all. And yes, I hate chaos above all things! [:D]

I sent the turn a few days ago (7 january 1943). I have been very busy and of course I have been watching the Euro Cup (now it's over).

Anyway, my fears were justified. Marquo has finally spreaded his panzers (the ones which were sort of visiting the area north of the Caucasus) behind the front in the main offensive area. Needless to say he's striked and under these circumstances I will hardly advance.

I will possibly give up come spring if I don't get close to Kursk. And most important, there's NO way at all I can have a historical Red Army (lack of APs): rifle corps, artillery divisions, mechanized corps (not a single one yet). I simply can't see how I will get this.

If I don't have this historical army it does not make any sense methinks. Therefore I will ADMIT DEFEAT and give up. After all, Mark has enjoyed two major summer offensives, but I don't think I will get my reward (well, if I really deserve it in the first place): getting to Berlin or at least getting near to the scummy enemy's capital [:D]

Time will tell.

Thanks. I've been discussing the value of heavy industry in a couple threads and wanted to see how you fared. It looks as though you took some out of the more endangered areas in 1941 and lost a total of 24 to date. Arms situation is nice too. I think Marquo's advance was done in a way that you had time to do your evacs well in the early game.
