Then I used the b17s to look for some enemy CAs that had bypassed singers. I thought maybe they are in port at Georgetown. But no. this was a recon by bombing.

Up north I did help the IJA speed up their move to Manchuria. Seems the Japs are complaining alittle too much about the superior strength of Russian units and being pushed around in Manchuko.

ElCid continues to bomb the allies at Clark. but here we are dug in in the mountains.
Look at the art work on the sally... Sid may need to change his bomb load to a heavier mix.

Image

JAAF bombers don't have a lot of options - unlike JNAF - at this stage in the war. The Sally
served long and well - but never ever changed its bombload - if one believes Francillon - which
I do. The army standard from the 1930s was the 50 kg bomb (110 lbs) - and in fact - if I could -
I would not change that. More smaller bombs have more impact on soft targets - like
ground units and airfields. The Sally has 20 x 50 kg bombs at normal range, 15 at extended
range - and for reasons I cannot explain apparently even less when using its belly tank -
never mind IRL it STILL carried 20 and 15 WITH that tank!

This wholly obsolete biplane is remarkable - possibly even better than the Swordfish -
at least in game terms. Even a single plane in this attack scored. Part of the problem
is the targets were slow. Another is they lacked air cover. Big Red isn't fighting
for Malaya directly - but apparently he is nibbling at the margins.

I got nervous - I hate to leave ships in port in range of enemy bombers - so when they repaired up minimal system damage - they loaded up some RT Marines and headed North - where they are needed to help other RT Marines having unexpected trouble with a small enemy unit.

In Thai Marines are pronounced "muh reen" - and the term was made in honor of the US Marines who guarded President Lincoln. King Munkot was
a fan of Lincoln and offered elephants to help in the US civil war. The original mission of Thai Marines was to protect the king. By WWII, they had
also formed up three (battalion sized) "regiments" which could form into a "division." In RHS, you get all three "regiments" and they can indeed combine into a weak (regimental sized) "division." They are defined as "armor" but without tanks - so they move fast - they are entirely motorized. They report to an unrestricted RTN HQ so they can load on ships - unlike RT Army units - which report to RTA HQ and are restricted. Same with RTAF - it reports to RTA HQ and is restricted.

RE: RHS 101 v 3 Test 4B: The first deliberate attack on Singapore - Day 41

Post by bigred »

We had several land battles this turn, the one of most import to me was the attack at Iba, as I wanted to spring the flank on ElCid and outflank the 14th army. But the fortunes of war do not favor me today.

RE: RHS 101 v 3 Test 4B: The fall of Zamboanga

Post by el cid again »

Note: It was unintentional, but for several days a JAAF fighter unit
attacked the French Foreign Legion at Viet Tri. This is grounds to
release the unit - which could march up country to defend Northern
Tonkin (and join the communists who rule there) or on into China -
as it really did later (when attacked, go figure). The fighter unit was
set on "commander's discretion" because its target had disappeared.
