SIGINT Information
When playing the Allies has anybody got any useful information from SIGINT read outs? I have been playing a solitaire game and have deliberately set objectives for Japanese HQ's and units but I do not see any useful information appearing in the SIGINT reports. Due to the lack of Intell there will never be a Coral Sea and never a Midway. I don't want the Allies to be handed the key's to the Kingdom but now the Allies really are clueless.

RE: SIGINT Information
Don't think this should be in Tech support.
I don't get a lot out of Allied Sigint, I get far more from looking at the combat reports and seeing the patterns of moves and where units are....... which is exactly what both sides have in reality anyway.

RE: SIGINT Information
I rarely read SIGINT, but sometimes you get interesting information about invasions, like "XX division embarked on TF on it's way to XX".

RE: SIGINT Information
It seems to me quite random but when it happends the information can be golden in my opinion. In my AAR I ambushed a transport convoy moving to Moulmein for example ...
Also, like what was siad before a simple "3/77th loaded on xAK ABC moving to XYZ" provides a treasure trove .., I think this unit has been broken up.. where there are xAK's moving a inf unit there are xAP's ... now look for "heavy radio traffic XYZ" .. and station a few submarines .. and bang some LYB are swiming ... [:D]
But one message does not provide the story .. there are multiple data points coming from multiple sources that tell the story ..

RE: SIGINT Information
For what it's worth.... Collecting and studying nearly 2 years of sightin reports i managed to know what exactly what my opponent had in the kuriles/okkaido....and i mean every unit in every base.... With this infos i managed to succesfully invade in early 1944 hokkaido and start a strat bombing campaign of japan mainland....
So the answer is: yes. Invaluable informations

RE: SIGINT Information
As GJ suggested. SigInt displays you the unfiltred, raw, information. To make sense of the data and how to make sense of the data is completely up to the player.
So depending on the ammount of effort put into analysis, SigInt can be very, very valuable.

RE: SIGINT Information
As CinC of the Pacific War I really shouldn't be sorting through this "raw" data. I don't think Nimitz did it, he had some one do it for him. I don't think SIGINT is working as it did for the CinC's of the Pacific commands. Was half expecting to see HQ targets, but I have not seen that sort of info.

This.
You are misinterpreting your job designation Capt Cliff.
You are not CINCPAC. You are a poor soul responsible for just about every miniscule detail ever invented to torture WWII commanders.
If you don´t accept that, you don´t play WitP AE. [:'(]

An your point in posting meaningless information is what? To be clever (-1)? So Rochfort didn't tell Nimitz that Midway was a target? Or the Port Morseby was about to be invaded allowing the Lex and Yorktown to intercept the invasion fleet?

The problem is that this is the most the IJ gets as information .. the Allies get a plithroa compared to this .. you have to understand the latter to understand the former ..

Yes, I am playing a solitaire game so I see both sides. But I get nothing from Allied SIGINT as to possible targets of HQ's or anything like that. So perhaps the SIGINT for the Allies may not be working "historically". Historically SIGINT won the War in the Pacific for the Allies.

RE: SIGINT Information
No Captain, that was not dumb. What the gracious lady Gräfin Zeppelin described in her example of a SigInt report is all the Japanese player gets in the form of intel. No "Troops aboard Maru bound for ABC" or anything else that specific. True, as an Allied player, you have to work to gain useful information from all the data gathered during the daily SigInt reports. But if you were to play the Japanese side, all you get is "Stuff seems to be gathered at ABC". No "bound for" info much less unit specific intel. It's much more difficult to gain useful information from this data compared to the Allied capabilities which I believe was GZ's intent. So if you think it's rough playing the Allied side, try the Japanese side for a game or two as GZ does and you'll see her point.

Sorry sport but it was dumb and non-value added. Ridiculing some one is not making little about something. Try to be professional about postings in the technical section. The Allied SIGINT is not providing info that WAS provided historically. I have seen info about ships with XYZ unit bound for info ... but no HQ target info .. which Rochefort gleaned about Midway for Nimitz.

Firstly, GZ did provide you with exactly the answer needed for you to count 2 and 2 together, something you seem to be reluctant to do: Some things in the game simply don´t
work like you are CINCPAC, e.g. you don´t get preanalysed intel served on a plate. You either understand that ot you are playing the wrong game.
Secondly, you get exactly what you describe, but simply not when you personally prefer to (which would be really ridiculous). SigInt, besiders other stuff, hands you snippets of
units planning for targets, radio intercepts of fleets, and troops being loaded on transports for specific destinations. Sometimes the planning unit is an HQ, and sometimes the rest
fits together and you get an overall picture. Sometimes. But it takes a bit of work to sort it out.
And thirdly, you asked a question which belonged into the war room in the first place, not the technical section. Roger tried to tell you this, but you probably read only part of the responses.
Ridiculing someone over there is perfectly legal. Its called "joke". [:'(]
