Ship conversion Question.

Post by cplprice »

Ship conversion question. OK say I change the parameter data on a class upgrade for a ship. When I upgrade the ship to the new configuration, within the game, does the game engine calculate the time required based upon the number and type of devices changed, or some other factor? Similar to the way it figures time for damage repair, or does the person modding the configuration have to specify the amount of time it will take to make the change? If the latter, where do you enter this data?

Thanks.

Ok, lets start from the beginning. Just what parameter data are you talking about changing?

You have to put in the # of days its going to be in the yards for the conversion.

Several things, mostly theoretical, but I would like to know how it works in case I'd like to attempt them.
1.) Differences in AA suite numbers and placements, and radar fits. I was reading a bit in Friedman's on the different configurations of the Washington and NC. There were a number of times they had different configs that one or the other never had. Some are modeled in the game, which is easy use the other ships class number for the upgrade config, some are not, but could easily have occurred. The question would be how long it would have taken. If the game models upgrade time on device repair time, if for example you added two 40mm quad mounts it would take approximately the time it would take to repair the devices if they had been damaged. Same same with radar.
2.) The Yusen S type AK has no convert to classes. The Lima S type xAK can convert to an AKV or AKE. It is about @400 tons less displacement but percentage wise has similar troop/cargo capacities. What if I wanted to allow this option?
Or what if I wanted to convert the same Yusen S to an APA by increasing troop and decreasing cargo capacity? If the conversion time is defined in the data for a class, I need to know where. If it is I could just look at the Lima S's data, change the "new" Yusen S's type to AKE and enter similar, percentage wise, data as is contained in the upgrade from xAK to AKE for the Lima S. For the AK/APA change I would need to find a similar, historical conversion and find the time required for it and enter the conversion time data, if modable. Obviously, device repair time would not work for this type upgrade/conversion, so if there is no place the conversion cost/time is defined it can't easily be done.

Thanks for the help.

If the conversion time is defined in the data for a class, I need to know where.

There's a field in the database editor on the Ship Classes tab called Conversion Delay. You can enter any number you like. Well, I'm sure there is some kind of range limit, but it's not calculated.

Thank you for your reply.

A question on the conversion bind number. It says it needs to be unique and you have a bind from class and bind to class. Is there anywhere that these numbers are shown as a listing so that they're not duplicated?

In the right centr of the screen there is a list of the bind class that you can update.

It would be nice if the binds would be sorted by number. Now you have to go through the whole list.
