Some editor questions

This exciting new release is a faithful adaptation of the renowned Conflict of Heroes board game that won the Origins Historical Game of the Year, Charles Roberts Wargame of the Year and the James F. Dunnigan Design Elegance Award, as well as many others!

Designed and developed in cooperation with Uwe Eickert, the original designer of Conflict of Heroes, and Western Civlization Software, the award-winning computer wargame studio, no effort has been spared to bring the outstanding Conflict of Heroes gameplay to the computer. Conflict of Heroes includes an AI opponent as well as full multiplayer support with an integrated forum and game lobby. To remain true to the core gameplay of the board game, the PC version is designed to be fun, fast and easy to play, though hard to master. The game design is also historically accurate and teaches and rewards platoon and company-level combined arms tactics without overwhelming the player with rules.

Some editor questions

Post by Ratzki »

What does the "Create Height by Noise" and "Adjust Height by Noise" do. I see the smoothing of the map hills but is there anothreason that they should be used? They are not in the editor instructions online.
Same with "Rebuild Detail Map", I have not had much of a chance to play with this button yet.
Is there gonna be a new instruction set made and posted for the updated editor?

The height by noise functions are experimental. I think I've found good parameters for them which we might try in the next build, but as of now they aren't very useful because the parameters they use are too small. Basically they either create or modify the height map by a noise function.

The detail map button redraws the ground terrain. You'll notice when you place trees and buildings and similar items the ground terrain mesh isn't redrawn for the new items. It doesn't redraw every time because that would be too slow. The redraw ground terrain button forces a ground redraw to update these things. This is done automatically whenever a map is loaded, so you don't strictly need to do this when you are creating a map, but sometimes it's nice to see what the ground will look like.

OK, thanks for the information. I have been playing around with the editor quite a lot and was a bit stumped by these couple of buttons.
