Kendri
Dutch sub sinks an xAK.

Ambon
We damage a bunch more transports.

Tabiteuea
We barely damage the runway with some 4E's.  It looks like some fighters might of been moved in from Roi Namur.

Quiet turn a few bombings here and there.

Ambon
Japs delib attack us.  They lose close to 5k worth of men we looks 1k.

My troops are almost fully prepped for Roi Namur.  1 Marine ID and 1 Marine tank Bn.  Midway's Marine DB is 100% prepped for Roi Namur.  Taking Roi Namur will be a big help and if I can damage those planes before my troops land that would be even better.  Almost 200 planes at Roi now.  With Roi in my hands I will drasticly cut down on the sweep and destructions of my AFs in the northern Marshall's.  Also it will give me bases to pound the Tarawa and Tabiteuea.

The first P40K's have rolled off the assembly line.  I am happy not because they are great planes, but I get alot of them.

Oscars sweep our P 40B's and Hurri's IIc.  4 Oscars are shot down to our 4 P40B's and 2 Hurri's.  I made the mistake of sending the Hurri's up there, now they are stuck because I don't have enought supplies for drop tanks.

Ambon
Dutch sub sinks an AP.

PH
I 17 takes 8 hits with atleast 3 of them being penetrating.  Heavy damage is reported.  I don't expect this sub to make it home.  I am happy to get rid of this sub.  I hate the subs with recon planes.

In 2 days over a 1k troops have been killed by bombers.  Time to pull these guys back.

Quiet turn guys.

I see 11k worth of troops in 4 units.  I know the Wake garrison unit is here.  I don't know how big or what it is composed of either.  I might need more troops to take the island.

Checking in. You are far ahead of me in the central Pacific, much better shape in China, and very similar in Burma; I'm in October '43! Whats the SoPac-SwPac look like?

Sorry to hear about the HQ situation! Its about time we got over on one of the storms here. Seems we always lose power. As for the roof situation, its been a long time, but one of my earliest memories at Peekskille Military Acadamy was buckets all over the place. Wish you well.

I have been sinking only the little 3.6 tonne class TK's shipping fuel out to Truk .. but I did get 2 of the 12 tonne monsters running into the DEI . that is why I asked ..

Zulu be glad you missed this one and the ones that followed it.  7 days without power.  I was at work when it hit.  Lost power in the hospital at 2030 hrs.  Temp went up to 88 at 0300 hrs.  Then started to evac the floor at 0600 hrs.  I never want to evac a unit again.  Then my truck broke down found a hole in the roof. Internet wiring went bad just got that fixed today.  Fun week.

Crackaces it was a small TK.

I have been thinking of placeing troops on Makin Island.  I have no friendly bases around it with Tarawa and Tabiteuea both in Jap hands.  I am worried about attacking Roi Namur because I figure the KB is close.

Post your thoughts please.

My thought..Any atoll will base AVD's/ an AV .. to provide a base for patrol planes... and I suppose there are empty ones? Grab a strategic base .. strategic meaning an ability to look deep into the battle space and station a PBY squadron.

That is how I advanced through the Gilberts / Marshall's. Interlocking patrol arcs and LBA ...one other thing the IJ hated about this strategy . it only took 2 raids of exchaging IJN pilots for cheap USAAF pilots for the IJ to take a different tactic .. [;)]

I agree crackaces but the AVD or  AV would be sunk in one raid.

7th Sep

KB Marshall Islands
MKB IO somewhere
new CV TF Gilbert Islands

Hengyang
Tojos sweep and the bombers bomb.  700 KIA with the runway shut down.  I think this might be where Koniu crosses the river.  Forts are 4 with 1500 AV.  I am moving more AV to this base.

Changsha
7 forts with 4300 AV.

Burma
We bomb some Jap IDs in a jungle hex and do little damage.

Ambon
Captured. [:@][:@][:@]  We do do some damage to some Jap ships here.

West of Naru Island
CL and 2 DD TF finds the KB.  All 3 are lost.

Plans
I will suspend all Ops in the Marshall and Gilbert Islands.  Need to let things cool down first and maybe get start a fire somewhere else.

Ahh .. Ok .. I got over this hurdle earlier in my game .. the IJ compulsion to just raid ... the last one being Ndeni ... for 2 xAK's the KB lost 20 fighters, 10 DB. and 5TBs soon the IJ got the idea that short term raids to just sink things would end up costing them pilots and planes that could be doing other things ... it is my thought that I welcome the KB into these freys because over time it weakens their ability to apply power into the battle space when they really really need to ... I sort of see an advantage to lure the KB into raids vs. LBA ...if you can get CAP/LRCAP over the bases in question ..

At Makin KB wouldnt have to raid.  He could use LBA from Tarawa or Tabiteuea.  I was talking about putting BF's, grunts, AA, and Engs to build up the base.

The KB hit my scouting force behind the lines.  I was looking for convoys or holes in his search archs.  I found the KB though.  I figured the last time I saw the KB he was trying to find my blind spot.  I guess he found it.  I'm also guessing that Koniu has a new CVE/L.

2 Days to update.

8th Sept

KB Marshall Islands?
MKB unknown
New CV TF Gilberts

Sian
Gets hit from the air. 700 KIA

Chang Mai
We bomb the AF.

Port Morseby
We sweep and bomb the AF again.  12 Zeros are lost to our 2 P38s and 2 B17s.

Maloelap
Japs sweep knock out 8 Kitty I's for 2 A6m3's and 2 Helens.

9th Sept

KB unknown
MKB unknown
New CV TF Ocean Island

Lashio
P38s sweep on there own and get owned by some Oscars. 3 Lightnings lost for maybe 2 Oscars.  I will have to find out what is at Lashio.  Recon is ordered and we will sweep again.

Darwin
Kates attack a resupply convoy. Put a bomb on a PG.

Port Morsbey
We sweep and find nothing.  B17s hit the AF again.

Lunga
B24s attack the AF.

Maloelap
Nice air battle here. Oscars A6m3/A's sweep and Helens bomb.  We decided to greet them in the air today.  32 Oscars, 4 A6m3's, 4 Helens, and 1 A6m3A are taken out.  We lose 15 P40E's and 5 Wildcats.  This battle has almost spent my fighters.  I got replacement AC but will have to fly them out to Wake, so I can get them out of the crates and flying in a safe enviorment.  But who knows how long that will take.  I hope that this battle will cause Koniu to pause his sweeps and bombings.  The Runway is almost closed.  I am thinking of bring in some P38s here but with the high service rating and can't move them anywhere quickly I think it would be a lose after 2 battles.  I might bring in P40K's.

Roi Namur
I saw a 4 ship TF heading to this base.  I am going to send some DDs up here to see if anyone is home.

As a general rule, Lightnings should be used offensively on sweeps, not defensively on CAP or Escort duties. On a sweep you choose the time and place for operating the Lightning. You are not similarly master of the situation when on CAP/Escort. Aircraft that have high service ratings need to be masters of their own use.
