Pass Code BLOWS!

Post by John 3rd »

I was just logging in and did my name, password, and then spent 5 minutes trying to find a security code that I could ACTUALLY READ. What is up with that? They we all semi-erased. Anyone else have an issue with that? It went past irritating on about the 6th attempt to simply log-in to the site.

Amen. It looks they've added a lot more lines to obscure the letters and numbers. They did a good job of obscuring. Took me seven or eight attempts.

It's probably the only thing they can do for now to keep the spammers out of the main forum... The system is there for a reason (and it is not to annoy you)...

I had to click away six before I got one that I could read. If it keeps the spammers out I guess I can live with it. Like I have a choice.

I had the same experience - the images are hardly readable - so it is almost impossible to log in. I had 7-8tries before succeeding

Be careful what you wish for spambot haters! This really vacuums posterior. Or blows goats!
I do not need the aggro. My BP jumped up 30 points just trying to get in to say I hates it.
This is, in my mind, attempted murder. So much for dropping in to have fun. Hope this stops the spambots
because for now it has stopped me. Did somebody look at this and think it was a GOOD idea? Shoot him and his family now please.
Yours in aggravation .......please imagine a stream of obscenities hurled this way. All scrambled up so that they look like prayers

Can't you guys set your computer to remember your password and automatically log you in? I haven't logged in manually in over three months since I checked that little box that said "remember my password".

The codes are supposed to keep spambots out, but these ones keep humans out too methinks. [:D]

Its perfectly possible to code so a spambot can create loadsa ids. They cannot read the CAPTCHA so the theory goes that if you make it machine unreadable it needs a mark 1 eyeball (human issue) to decipher the deliberately obscure text.

Problems occur because it is obscure, the mark 1 eyeball is not necessarily that good anyway, and then there's the confusion over numbers or letters, capitals or not and do you include a space or not.

Now try doing this sort of activity with 50 kids whose reading ability is not great and who need to type in such an input to register for a google account - all at one go - I used to sometimes really earn my pay!

I just sigh in resignation when I get one of these to do, and see if I can get it within ten attempts.......

Its a necessary evil I am afraid. Set your cookies and remember the login command and its not so often you need to do it.....

Just 1 more thing to vex these old eyes of mine. I do set the computer to remember the passwords, but once in a while I have a utility that cleans things up a bit and there I go again resetting the passwords that I can't remember. [X(]

I agree that the easiest way is to save your password and check the "cookies" button. This will at least stop you from having to type in that annoying text.
