Graphics glitch

Post by Buck Beach »

OK this post is short on details and minus any screen shot, but, have any of you experienced a shuddering (for the lack of a better description) when scrolling across the main map. That is the view starts repeating everything in a studdering manor. Just when I think I have a handle on it, it starts again. Sure it has to do with my locations that I am working on, but, don't think I can figure it out right now.

Thought I would try the group of experts to see if any body else has had and or solve the issue.

The map starts acting weird if computer memory is having problems. Sometimes just quitting and restarting solves the problem. Almost always rebooting the computer solves the problem.

I suspect it's a DirectX thing, but I've never quite been able to run it to ground.

I had that problem, solved it with "-dd_sw" shortcut switch.

I may have solved it thinking about what wdolson said. I was in the habit of exiting a game but leaving the program open and then restarting a new game or turn from the menu page. I am now closing out the game and the program before a restart, clearing out anything that might be cached. Seems to be working (at least since 4:00 AM this morning).

If you don't mind will you point me in the direction of the how to for those switches, in case I am just having a string of good luck for the moment.

Don you might be right on the mark with me being a little touched, otherwise what would I be doing up working on the game at that God awful hour.

Big thanks to all of you for responding.

It was at the start of the readme file in one of the early patches.

Well, started having problems again. Found the switches and set them up. First run OK, but, been there and done that.

Still appreciate all of you for your help.
