The biggest surprise of the day came at sea.
The first Imperial carrier sighting in a long time! Alas, there is no trace remaining of the sighting to advise us whether she was northbound or southbound. Hopefully she is bound for Japan. Wasp is the only active USN carrier, now about 2 or 3 days out of Pearl Harbor.
