Allied and Japanese plane side bmp file
Is it possible to extend the Height of the bmp images for the Allied and Japanese plane sides so that extra images can be added? Or is the only way to add images to put them in the blanks in the existing file?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I tried doing this a while back, & it didnt work. I thought i seen on the forum somewhere that each side only get 500 slots. Plus in Sheps Mods website thiers a link with the Numbered slot for Aircraft Art. http://www.alternatewars.com/Mods/WITP_ ... mbered.png
Thus I think that the game is hard coded to only read up to 500 slots of Aircraft art for each side, allies & Japanese.
I could be wrong but like i say i remeber looking into this in the past. If Im wrong (which i hope I am, cuz more aircraft would be nice) please correct me.

Yes and no.
If you edit things the traditional way (editor and the big multi-aircraft 'panels'), then yes, its 500 per side (only 1000 slots in the editor after all).
However, there is a way around this, using the new system through the 'AlliedPlanes' and 'JapPlanes' folders. Michaels first post in this thread contains a file with instructions on how they work.
What is important is that you can add aircraft to that folder with numbers beyond the usual 0-499 range. For example, I added your new Bf109 as #550 (so J_PlaneSide0550.bmp, etc).
To get them ingame, as the editor does not allow you to enter numbers beyond 499 (or rather it does, but will revert them as soon as you click something else), you will have to use witploadae to extract the scenario to .csv format, change the numbers to whatever you want, and then repack it.
Note that after doing this, if you open the scenario in the editor everything should be fine, as long as you dont click the (now red) bitmap field in the aircraft list, as this may cause it to take on an unwanted value when you deselect it.

All is well, life is calming down again so once again I find myself here...
Will be releasing a Coral Sea scenario showing off some new stuff (that will eventually make it into a campaign game) in the next few weeks.

There aren't any by default, you will have to create them in the root ART folder.
For the rest, refer to the guide posted in the thread I linked earlier.

I notice the stock Japanese plane side BMP has space for only 260 planes. However, in the editor you can assign bit map values for the Japanese of up to 499. Does this mean I could append the Japanese bit map image to include up to 499 planes?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Not sure, though it might work, so its worth a shot.
Ive personally moved all the aircraft stuff to the new folder system since its so much easier to duplicate files and make changes.

Well, I did a quick test and it seems to work both in the editor and in the game. Unless there is some unforseen problem that I'm not testing, everyting seems OK. For instance I put a German plane in Japanese slot 497 on the new extended bitmap and it shows up in the editor and game during turn 1.

Do you know of any similar workarounds for the "Locations" file or any other of the AE editor fields.

Also looking forward to your Campaign Mod you have been working on.

Haven't gotten around to messing around with locations yet, so no; if I find any I will let you know.
The most interesting I've found and verified to work ingame is Service Rating; in my new mod these range from 4 to 10.
