I think that is Jesus working the instrument panel...judging from the shoes I mean.

My guess is he sabotoges the whole works on moral grounds if it really needs to be fired.

Is (was) she a Poseidon or a Trident boat?

Those are some really strong powers of observation - nice catch on the shoes! I can't believe those are authorized.

Recon by bombardment is fun and good for you.

PS. Don't forget the spotter plane.
Oh wise one, what is the proper setting for the float planes to get the bombarding ships to use a it as spotter? I have tried setting it to recon with no target, tried recon of the target, tried leaving it without a mission. Nada. Nothing, Meanwhile, all my opponents seem to make the damn things circle over my head day and night, adjusting their firing with metronome precision. And don't tell me it is in the manual; Mandrake might blow a gasket.

Chickenboy,

don't leave me in suspense. It is almost certainly past Sprior's bedtime in the UK.

Shoes on subs need to be quiet, not official. Those would probably not be condoned back aft.

Here's what I do-it seems to work:

1. Ensure that your recon float plane is set for NIGHT flying (Mission speed bombardment TFs will bombard their target at night).
2. Ensure range setting of float plane is set to maximum.
3. Altitude ~6,000 setting
4. Recon setting with the bombardment hex indicated.
5. Ensure no other countermanding settings for small ship air units.
6. Ensure sufficient numbers of pilots and non-damaged planes available.

This should work, Wirraway_Ace. Give it a try and report back?

Wait, you're not playing the Allied side in your game are you? I'm not allowed to give you Arried fanbois too much that is helpful. [:'(]

Fleet Admiral Mandrake:....what I want to know is how he found out about this place.

Naval Atache: Beats me boss. What you want I should do about them Royal Navy ships?

Fleet Admiral Mandrake: Send 'em back.

Naval Atache: But which ones is they boss?

Fleet Admiral Mandrake: Look, it's simple. If it sounds like someones name or a city or a state, it's probably one of ours. If it has a "Maru" afterward it's Jap. If it ain't one of those send it back Got it, amigo?

The senior rates dining area had a TV and video player mounted on a shelf. Eventually we had to have a rule that they were switched off at meal times. It's difficult to eat a snorker whilst some bint on the TV... I should should stop there on the grounds of taste.

Nova had an interesting show on one of the US carriers. It focused on the crew with some real dramatic stories about how things were going back home..that sort of thing. I think the Navy expected them to concetrate on the pilots and other officers as some kind of recruitment video.

They cornered one sailor and asked him about sex between the female and male sailors while at sea. He got this smile on his face but didnt get 5 words out before the officer that was acting as chaperone for the film crew said something from behind the camera. Pretty funny.

We went straigh from Polaris to Trident D5. We did retro-fit the Polaris A3T missiles to A3T-K, the K standing for Chevaline (of course) a penetration aid carrier. No, not a tube of lube.

I'm also going to guess there weren't any women aboard.

Only vistors when alongside.

I invited my neighbours Dave and Margaret to a cocktail party on board. Margaret was dressed in a rather fetching above the knee dress and 3 in heels. She took one look at the ladder down the main access hatch and said, "I can't go down there". Mr Gallant (me!) says "It's okay, I'll go ahead of you and put your feet on the steps." "No," came the reply, "You don't understand, I'm not wearing any knickers".
