oil wells and strategic considerations

I know it is early for asking, but according to the manual there are oil wells. Do they have any effect on your planning? And does anyone know how important they are for the Russians? I'm asking because I like the idea fighting for resources, but only if it has an important impact on the game play otherwise it is irrelevant, in my opinion.

German oil poduction is rather low. if you are on a full offensive you'll soon deplete your stocks. from then on it's either moving panzers or flying air missions. that said i found it not too hard to almost ignore the Luftwaffe and keep it grounded, as the impact of air missions is less deadly than in DC1.

Don't know about the russian side.
