Generate Battle

Post by Rasputitsa »

When selecting a battle in the Battle Generator, the game either stalls on 'Generating Organization Information', sometimes get a map with objectives, but no units displayed and when selecting 'next unit', just says 'all units have been considered'. This happens on all games, West/East/Rising Sun. Just once, I got a map with units, so it is possible, but mostly no go, any ideas. [&:]

I believe this is because the campaign files aren't updated, coupled with a faulty generator. It has always been flaky, I used to love to make battles that way. The campaign files must contain valid units in order to work, I haven't checked into them in a long time. Any country/s in particular?

I tried several starts in West/East/Rising Sun, various set-ups, including random (so the game could set itself), assuming that when the parameters are highlighted they should be legal, very occasionally I got a successful game start, but mostly it failed with map and objectives, but no units. I am trying to adjust compatibility to see if that helps. [:)]

With that default setting I get the map, which seems to be correct and active, responds to hotkeys, objectives showing, but no units.

One odd point is that when I select 'units off', the objectives go off as though they were units. The objectives also respond to the objective tick option as well. I might just try a fresh installation and see what that does. [:)]

Sometimes all units come on as reinforcements, but the game immediately says that upon turn beginning, so you would know that!! Reinstall couldn't hurt, who knows?!

You cannot play those minor nations.

If you go to generate battles, select a location and a year. You can scroll through the countries offered.
I think the Axis has only the Italians, Germans, and Vichy.

The Allies do not include Spain, Ethiopia, etc.

Unfortunately not, would be a great mod, too. Might be able to modify the DCG files to generate battles with other countrys, but their country number must be less than 21.

Yes, the nations are playable. But, not in generated battles.

You can add them to any custom scenario that you would desire to make.
But, your initial question was having them in generated battles? There, it is not possible.
