Does anyone know were we might find good pictures or fact of the bridge and area.

Arnhem Bridge

Very simple. Just rent a copy of "A BRIDGE TOO FAR".

The Arnhem bridge in that movie is believe it or not, the actual ARNHEM BRIDGE. You can't do any better than that!

Well yes we do have it, but sins our "master" builder wants to build the bridge part in iron bars! to get the stability to place large numbers of playing pices.
But for the moment we are trying to use the movie.

Wow - building your own bridge is very impressive. :) The best resource I would recommend for your project is the book Arnhem, by A.D. Harvey. It Includes many great photos of the bridge, including an aerial photograph of the bridge with wreckage of SS-Hauptstumfuhrer Grabner's armoured cars after their disasterous attempt to cross the bridge on Sept 18, 1944. :D

The book also contains many detailed maps of the surronding buildings as well.

Incidently, the actual bridge at Arnhem was destroyed by B-26 Maruaders of 344th Bombardment Group of USAF on Oct 7, 1944.

The bridge was rebuilt after the war in its original style.

Has anyone visited the Muesum in Arnhem? Is it worth the trip?

Bridge

Thanks for clarifying that.

I looked through Google and saw that the pictures of the bridge that were shown said "reconstructed", which I assume was because the poor thing was shot to pieces in the fighting at one point or another.

Chairman and his friends had better make sure that bridge is strong because that German Armor weighs a ton!

In the Engineering High School that I went to in NYC, a student could major in "Structual Engineering", and it was a term project on the part of each class to build a "Balsa Bridge" of approximately that scale. I however majored in "Mischief" with a minor in "Mania".
