Where VCs grow

Post by pontiouspilot »

I am in the middle of reaquainting myself with this glorious waste of time. I have played wargames for 40 years. In my Scen 6 against Jap. computer I just stumbled across something worth mentioning. 2xBritish destroyers on ASW duty at the gates of Colombo stumbled across a corpulent TF with Shokaku and Kirishima and support.

Guess the result!!! Shokaku torpedoed and sank, 30 + hits on Kirishima criplling her bad enough for Beauforts to torp and finish off several days later. The desroyers suffered minor damage!! VCs to all including the skippers cabin boy!! The computer made 2 wasteful forays into the Indian Ocean sinking a few careless convoys but wasting many good aircrew apparently trying to sink Ceylon.

As many have noted...the Art. Intelligence is not just artificial, it is pretend. I managed to hold Akyab and surround a vast Jap army. Also the computer sent wave after wave of amphib at Akyab turn after turn. Every wave met my ancient Brit BBs who massacered them night after night. The heavies got pounded from the air by day but none sank. They doubtless turned the entire tide as I now have Bankok in May '43. This thankfully made up for my stupidity on other fronts.

At Pt Moresby Yamato engaged and sank 3 x seemingly fragile USA BBs in 1 night while sustaining 200+ hits. Again Beauforts finished her off with torps.

Are you on the latest Beta or official patch? I haven't seen anything like this in a long time. Anyone else?

Not to be a smarty pants (though I'm often guilty) but this forum is for AARs, you should post this in the main forum or the War Room.
