RE: Anschluss or Bust; A GD1938 AAR and Test Game
USSR: Soviet casualties and mounting and now they exceed the replacement rate. The Germans are suffering losses too, but they are much smaller. No major advances were made, however.
France: French air and naval forces hit the troops surrounding Brest and also sank two German submarines
GB: A terrible event happened. About 200 planes surrendered to the enemy (???, whith their pilots bailing out while attacking an hex....the enemy had no planes covering the area. The event is being investigated. Our ASW forces are achieving some success against German submarines, sinking 4 of them, but many patrol aircraft were lost too....In Turkey, the lines were more or less stabilized after the arrival of new forces to the front. Not much to report.
USA: Agressive ASW patrols resulted in 3 German submarines sunk, but we also lost 3 submarines in a battle against enemy U-Boats. Air raids against Venezuela continue
China; Chungking will be lost, it will starve the Chines army and that´s the end for China....
A notice: Brest holds and was reinforced with heavy equipment.

Rofl?! Mass british defection? What in the world happened there? Did you run out of fuel for the return trip? Anti Supply? Thats bloody weird.
RE: Anschluss or Bust; A GD1938 AAR and Test Game
And it happened another time...more twenty aircraft lost.....it seems to happen only in attacks against occupied France.

Update Aug 1940
USSR: German offensive in the South stalled after massive tank losses. Soviet forces also suffered heavy losses in men. Germany gained some territory but no important objectives. Soviet forces are able to defend themselves but still lack the resources for a counterattack.
France: French ships sink have been fighting the German submarines with some success. The German U-Boat losses increased a lot in the last turns.
GB: RAF has assumed a defensive stance and is unable to break the stalemate in the air. On the other hand, the Coastal Command and the new ASW surface forces are achieving some success against enemy U-Boats. In Turkey, the arrival of armoured and air reinforcements has stopped the German offensive. Beirut remains in British hands.
USA: More units are joining the air campaign against Venezuela. Italian troops in Africa attempted to take Dakar but were repulsed by American troops.
China: China is defeated we wonder what Japan will do next.

As bombur said, the offensive to take Odessa and Kiev has faltered under soviet air and artillery attacks. Most troops involved were from minor nations, supported by a panzergrenadier army, but once those took heavy damage the offensive was unable to continue. Some land has been taken, so our next thrust will be a bit deeper, but for now is halted.
In the north, engineers try and cross the Dvina, and build bridges, but are unable to set concrete in the marshes. An offensive towards Smolensk is also halted before it even begins.
Italians haven taken Gibraltar and pour into western Africa to attempt to take Egypt and Morocco.
Japan takes the last city in china, and turns its attention to the north, and to the south.

October 1940
-USSR: The VVS became a formidable killing machine. Soviet tatctical aircraft escorted by lots of fighters are inflicting heavy casualties on German troops. Neither side, however, is willing to start a land offensive, althought Soviet intel is reporting large concentrations of German troops North of Pripet marshes.
-France: nothing to report
-UK: The RAF suffered massive losses in Turkey, to German fighters, while lots of patrol aircraft were shot down by German submarines. To make things even worse, no submarines were destroyed. The situation in Turkey seems to have reached a stalemate, neither side being able to advance. British submarines entered the Mediterranean and sank an Italian cruiser.
USA: USA troops are being sent to Africa, to reinforce Dakar, threatebed by Italian troops. The Italians suffered some losses and were forces to retreat. It´s said the Americans used a new bomber to support these attacks. This bomber seems to be faster and better armoured than every medium bomber in service around the world. In Venezuela, the air offensive against the fascist government goes own. With the Venezuelan air force destroyed, PBY´s are bombing the local oilfields with impunity.

RE: Anschluss or Bust; A GD1938 AAR and Test Game
Germany: Fortifications south west of Odessa are destroyed with the help of Italian rocket artillery. A panzer corp and combat engineers in half tracks break through the fortified lines and approach the outskirts of Odessa.
The battle of britian is beginning to stale mate. Turkey is a stalemate as well. German forces continue to try and break into the soviet union and do some damage, but so far the only place theyve had real success recently is in the Atlantic. German Uboat forces still cost the allies a pretty penny month after month.
Italy: A new Italian army helps destroy fortifications in the Ukraine, and then move south to head into Turkey. Forces moves across north africa, destroying french outposts, and linking up with the forces in Tunisia. A new drive into Eygpt is started.
Also Italian forces in west Africa have met troops of the United States, and rail heads are being constructed along the Algerian and Morroccan coast to bring new forces to bear against the Americans.
German uboats try to cut off reinfocements.
Japan:
With China conquered, Japan;s forces reorganize, build coastal guns for the new ports that they own, and begin preparations for all out war against the Allies and USSR.

USSR. The new German offensive is much more dangerous than the former ones. Soviet attack aircraft took massive losses to enemy fighters, so it wasn´t possible to inflict heavy casualties to enemy armoured formations. Odessa was evacuated and a new defensive line will be formed. The Soviets are realizing that it will be impossible to stop the Germans without a second front.
France: nothing to report.
GB: In the last months our ASW units inflicted massive losses to German submarines. We hope the U-Boat threat will be finished by the end of 1942. The Germans seem to be depleting every other front to help their east offensive, so the RAF started raids against occupied France again. Results are mixed with about 2:3 losses, favoring the Germans. Anyway, the Luftwaffe lost at least 170 fighters in the last 2 months(17SFT´s). German troops also retreated from Beirut and even the German submarines are hard to be found in the Med. We are locating big Italian formations about 400kn west from Cairo. British aircraft are bombing them. British armoued formations also defeated Italian/Saudi troops, taking control of Bahrain oilfields. The big question is: what will happen if Japan enters the war?
USA: Venezuela was occupied by American troops, we hope it will create fuel troubles to Germany. The USN also occupied the Azores without resistance (the Island was ungarrisoned). It will allow us to sen long range aircraft to Liberia and will make life miserable to German U-Boats that blocked reinforcements to Africa in the last three months.
China: Chiang Kai Shek formed a government in exile. The British promised them a new army if Japan enters the war, but for now they don´t want to provoke the Japanese.

May 1938
-USSR: In the South, situation is grim. A big German army is taking position in the west bank of the Dnieper river. The VVS took massive losses in the last months and cannot mount the offensives that crushed the first German offensive. In the North, Soviet troops achieved minor victories against Finnish forces. Stalin warned the allies that the Souther Front could collapse if a second front in Europe doesn´t materialize in the next months.
-France: A renewed Free France air force launched a few raids against German forces in occupied France. While these raids didn´t achieve too much theyr provided RAF with much needed recon
-Great Britain: A quiet turn for GB. The arrival of the new Level VI fighters shifted the balance of the air war in favor of the RAF. It also seems the Germans shifted most of their forces to the East. British fighters and bombers are now targeting the German AA defenses as a preparation for an upcoming invasion of continental Europe. The U-Boat threat seems to be gone....for now. In the ME Front the German and Italian troops retreated from Beirut. In the Mediterranean, British submarines are starting to harass the Italian supply lines, while the RAF is pounding Italian land forces, inflicting moderate losses to them. Matilda tanks are arriving at the Front in great numbers.
-USA: As we expected, the capture of the Azores resulted in a big headache for German U-Boats, as it´s now possible to ferry heavy bombers and Patrol aircraft to Dakar. The Kriegsmarine lost 20 Submarines in the last two months, althought our PBY´s also took heavy losses from submarine flak. A big German Army is moving towards Dakar, but the new American heavy bombers are being used against these forces. It seems German and Italian troops lack air cover to fight in all fronts.
-In the diplomatic front, Thailand, worried with the growing threat from Japan, signed a mutual defense threat with Great Britain (after a small....regime change). The allies made an offer to Japan, promising not to intefere with the recent annexation of China if Japan remains neutral.

June-1942
Diplomatic Front: Japan answered to our generous offer by declaring war on the allied powers. Japanese forces made their first move and they are already at the gates of Manila, Vladivostok and Saigon. Many British and French submarines were caught in their ports and lots of these ships were lost.
USSR: The South Front is about to collapse, as Germany troops crossed the Dnieper. Attempts to mount a counterattack resulted in massive losses for USSR, both in land and air. In the North, the Manernheim line was destroyed, but the Finish army was able to repulse a large Soviet assault. In the Far East, Soviet forces and American infantry are trying to defend the city. Soviet naval bombers sank some destroyers.
France: Saigon is close to be surrounded, a big force of more than 500 Japanese tanks was detected.
GB: Churchill is unhappy with the results of RAF raids over occupied territory, as the Luftwaffe is refusing to fight and flak is causing a few losses. He argues that German air defenses must be destroyed in three months.
In the mediterranean, more than 70 patrol aircraft are lost to German fighters.
USA: Most information from USA is censored. Will the USA Navy attempt to execute plan Orange?

RE: Anschluss or Bust; A GD1938 AAR and Test Game
This AAR has officially come to a close. We got through the early war period, found a number of bugs, and have quashed most if not all of them.
We'll be starting a new AAR "Lebenstraum" with the newest version of the scenario.
Thank you to all the readers!
