Modding the Sounds.dat file ??

Has anyone figured out the contents of the sounds.dat file? I bought a nice cd "Essential War Film Themes" some time ago, and replaced the original background music files with some of the tunes.

Reading another thread here there was a comment how it is easy to mod the sounds.dat file, but to be honest it does not make any sense to me ... [&:]

Example:

Edit: What I am trying to do is to add more tunes so was wondering if it is possible to add more slots for more new ogg files. In a perfect world I could add the all 32 tunes the cd came with to EF, WF and RS.

I've been replacing some of the crummier sound files with better ones from the 'net. In my copy they are listed as .ogg files along with the images - no separate folder. Esy enough to do but a monumental task!
