Why won't my LBA attack IJN CVs?

I recently installed all the new patches and started a long campaign against the AI (default AI Skill) The AI Japanese
have raided and seized Gili Gili. The invasion AP's have been parked for days, getting hammered by every LB bomber I have in range.


The IJN CV TF has parked several hexes SE of Gili, and the CV's fighters make no attempt to protect the APs.

My search planes find the CVs, but my bombers will not attack. Is it because the CVs may be out of fighter cover range? I know they are well within B-17 and Medium bomber range.

I want these Japanese CVs to go home so I can move some supplies and men, but they have my ships pinned down in port.

What should I do?

Give them some fighter escort. That is if you have some that have the range, which is unlikely.

Check the morale of your bombers, it should be > 50.

otherwise:
Send a few subs into the area.

Engage with your own carriers if you can.
