Pilot losses

Post by Stvitus2002 »

Last turn, no aircraft losses at all:no combat losses,no operational losses.
Yet it lists 1 pilot WIA & three KIA. How? Killed in traffic accidents off
base? Malaria?
FOW should not apply to my side.

Sometime there are landing accidents.
Very often pilot is killed/wounded but plane only damaged and after repair ready to service.

I think bombing airfields can kill or injure pilots.

As a Japanese player I have noted this syndrome as well.

I have even been to the extent of grounding my entire air force (Navy and Army) for a couple of turns....

It is amazing how many Japanese pilots die of heart attack, battle weariness or outright Seppuku on any given day.

Given they have all been grounded, it surely is not flight operations nor the enemy that is killing them...

It happens IRL....my grandfather was a pilot in the Pacific Theater, and he was "WIA" for 2 months. Not from enemy fire, from Hepatitis....he was in a field hospital at Zamboanga for that whole time. Not fun!

Thnx.

I have never checked it closely, but....

What about MIA pilots? When they are "found", can they be dead, or wounded? There is frequently information about finding missing pilots, but I have never checked their condition after this information

How do you know you lost two pilots? Did you go through every single squadron or is there a secret button somewhere in Tracker that I missed? [&:]

How do you know you lost two pilots

I checked the "top pilots" list(lower left). Just had an ACOM
for NO. 217 RAF squadron KIA,the thing is:that squadron is loaded
aboard an AK in transit from Aden to Karachi(off map). I guess
he must have fell thru an open cargo hatch.

He got a "Dear John" letter and threw himself over the side in a fit of dispair. It is a pretty complex game.....[;)]

The one I like is when the CO of a squadron at Spokane bails out and is captured while in training operations flying over Idaho. Since the IJN cannot sail an I-boat up the Snake River, I'd have to say that the game's Japanese spy network is a bit better than their real life counterparts.

I seem to remember that the armed forces of that era went to extremes to educate servicemen as to the dangers of STDs. So 'death by misadventure' is probably a good description.

It will say in the Ops report 'such and such pilot bails out and has become MIA' etc.
