December 20th 1943
CenPac: Even the Pearl Harbor port is overwhelmed by the tonnage reaching the Pacific. I underestimated how much supply and fuel I lifted there. Another command amphib TF leaves Pearl to pick up 1st Amphib HQ. Seabees depart Pearl for New Ireland.
SoPac: FAT-1 reaches Hiva and picks up engineers. Likewise Suva ships out a Reg to the front. Yorktown II repairs another hull point and is prodding eastward at 8 knots. It will be another 4-5 days before the construction Reg reaches I Corp HQ at Kavieng from the jungle road.
India: FUBAR, Don't have time to explain before work, but its PP related.
Burma: Spitfires sweep Prome. As the CAP and sweeps get bigger, the losses seem to be going down?!
China: We release some of the supply from Tsuyung to Changsha to expedite the 11th Army group Divs and Red Army Divs refitting and taking replacements.

SwPac-SoPac: Enginners are 54m from Kavieng as another Reg is just offshore of Namatanai. Yorktown II is holding together and making good progress.
Burma: We plan a little switch up in the airwar.
China: Mitchells just won't fly with that "yellow" (no pun) squadron CO.

West Coast: CV Intrepid makes port in California. A CVL and escorts will depart with her in 24 hours.
CenPac: No IJN sightings after the fly over at Johnston. Probably a sub plane. Why recon Johnston? We do get a Cat over Truk. Its our first flyover even if by an untrained recon team. It doesnt spot much; a CA at sea, a dozen planes, and under 8000 troops. We will fly it again.

Reg will arrive by jungle trail tomorrow. The 43 Constr. Reg should arrive by see tomorrow night. The 15th USN eng began marching yesterday and are 10 days out.
Burma: We get alot of Oscars and Tonys today, around 30 for a loss of 4. Scheba is now heavily garrisoned. This is good. IJAF fighters have staged back into Lashio.
Orioles on a roll and the Ravens play their first preseason tonight. I will post map of planned Allied aggression Friday night for comment.

No, I lost Wake pretty quick. I have nothing north of Makin. I will send you my '44 Pacific planning map Fri or Sun, you can tell me what you think. The support for this will need to originate from CenPac as far as the USMC is concerned, but the opening moves will be by the Australians followed by a rapid follow up assault by the US Army. As far as the Corsairs its hard to tell. I gained air superiority in SwPac-SoPac maybe a year ago. Jap airbases have been empty from Lunga Point to Hollandia for a long time. All the USMC aircraft are in the Solomons and Gilberts and have not been challenged. Needless to say thay have nice attributes and the crews are veteran.

Got an interesting note wth a replay today:

While it is a good sign to hear this, he will be surprised, I think, by the quality of the pilots he is facing when I reply.

You should give serious consideration to the altitude at which you operate your Vengeance dive bombers.
The British never have a substantial production run of medium bombers. Eventually most of their bombing capability takes the form of the Vengeance dive bombers. When that occurs, if you operate them as dive bombers, you will experience substantial losses. As usually there are not that many enemy ships in range of the Vengeance operating from Indian/Burmese bases, the opportunity cost to have them flying as ersatz level bombers is not that great.

CenPac: V Amphib HQ picked up in the Gilberts. The docks are over crowded at Pearl so we have to wait 48 hours before embarking more troops.
SwPac-SoPac: Engineers now total over 80 with their vehicles at Kavieng; damage being repaired rapidly. Halsey, Sopac air HQ CO will fly in shortly. IJN launches a carrier raid against Merauke. P39s rise to the occasion with good early warning and the right altitude. While we lose a few frames to shot up to continue the war they destroy the A6M5 escorts and we only lose one B17 on the ground.
Burma: Sweeps, bombing, and recon continue. We do not have air superiority.....yet. Supplies to China over the hump are making an impact,...I think.

CenPac: Now the PP problem hits really hard. I can't get a skilled air task force commander for the CVs. Best is in high 30s. I maybe completely screwed.
SwPac: Kavieng: runways cleared, airfield service 7%, port 87%. There are 117 engineers with 34 vehicles there now. The 15th Naval Const. is on the jungle road. The 139th USA BF and the 184th USAF BF are unloading at Namatanai. Three Bns of Seabees loading for Namatanai from the rear area.
SoPac: Amphibious TF428.33 is loading the invasion force.
India: BB Revenge: at 73F 53% (371) We are up the proverbial creek without a boat.
