Starting Conquest of the Aegean

I've just ordered the CD for COTA (the CD is yet to arrive) and have downloaded the software and the very latest COTA patch. My PC complies fully with all the Game operating requirements. My PC's operating system is Windows 7. Before making my purchase, I checked the game spec and it says the operating system needs to be: "Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7". Naturally I assumed that with the latest patch COTA would load and run ok. But the most it will run is the video intro. I'd be grateful for some advice.

No need to respond as I've found a way to start COTA by using a Windows 7 start up option for this software to run COTA in XP.
