Hold Objective Dates

Post by marion61 »

I'm not sure if this is intended, but when I'm given a defensive OB to hold, I hold it till the date specified with my units still occupying the OB at the end of the hold date. The thing that is confusing is that on your next turn (the day after the hold date) you lose the prestige for losing the OB. I'm running a game against the AI and I was to hold an OB till July 4th, which I did. My units were the last ones to occupy that OB on July 4th. The AI pushed me out of the OB on the July 5th-6th turn, and I get rebuked for not holding it. Is this WAD? It's just confusing, because sometimes I forget this and I'll pull out leaving a sacrificial unit to hold it till the next turn.

Just curious.

Should I have posted this in the Tech area? It's frustrating to take a ton of casualties and then not get credit on the date that is given to hold, and usually you end up getting all those units either encircled or so depleted that they are useless, and then there's no pay off for your effort to hold. Just seems that if the orders say hold till July 4th, that on that turn you would get credit and not on the following turn since the Russian turn comes 2nd.

I will see if i can rephrase the actual wording used. The message is indeed ''slightly'' off for the second player (mostly the Soviets).
Put this on the list for v1.03.

thanks for taking the time to report this.

best,
