Inconsistencies in unloading procedures?

Post by JocMeister »

I don´t know if this is a bug, WAD or just an oversight.

If you have an amphibious TF following a TF it will unload if the followed TF arrives at an enemy base. This is great since you can have an amphibious TF following a bombardment TF or ASW TF for example.

But if exactly the same two TFs with the exact same setting arrive at a friendly base the following TF will NOT unload. I discovered this in the worst possible way recently.

I see no reason the unloading shouldn´t work the same on a friendly base?

No details provided so diagnosis not possible.

But it is intended that unloading over the beach be different to unloading at a friendly port. Then again being docked is also a factor. See the differences outlined in sections 6.3.3.3.2.1 and 6.3.3.3.2.2 of the manual.

With the lack of details, are you merely witnessing the effects of:
  • not docking
  • running out of operational points
  • the difference in the unload rates
  • different TF ship configurations

Actually it was designed with this difference in mind.

One presumes that a friendly controlled port/base there is not going to be the need for a mad dash to the beach to dump as much as possible as quickly as possible, unlike an enemy controlled base where that need exists.

Well, there are certainly situations when you need to unload things as quickly as possible at a friendly base too. [:)]

I think it would be more clear and easier to have the TFs behave the same regardless of base ownership. But that might be just me!
