On-Map Allied Aircraft Production

Post by treespider »

Any good threads that discuss this topic?

I am in the midst of my redux of the economic system. I have made some good progress this week and will likely unveil the scenario in the coming weeks.

That being said I want to know exactly how on-map Allied aircraft production works.

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

I will have to look tonight, but I remember something about aircraft production sometimes takes a long time, more than a month, to slide to the next model. That would mean that at times a model that is scheduled for a months production does not appear at all.
I think that the two obligations you have are to be good at what you do and then to pass on your knowledge to a younger person

I think I answered my question...

I presume Allied Aircraft factories do expend HI points from the HI pool to produce their aircraft.

I also presume that the factories will not produce aircraft if there are no HI points available.

Yes - I do know that all HI points are pooled and it makes no difference whether the HI point is produced in Karachi or Melbourne the point can be used to build a Boeing in Seattle.

Do the Allies expend HI points for anything else?

Now I need to decide whether to bring more aircraft factories onto the map in place of the replacement rate - Reason - to add incentive to the Allied player to keep HI producing instead of implementing a House rule requiring it...(players should have never been given the opportunity to shut industry off - c'est la vie).

If you need to create Hi to make this work make sure you reduce the free supply that arrives off map. This will also require resources to be shipped that will use up some of the excess hulls out there as well as burn fuel. You might also look into replacing some of the free supply with LI to again force the shipment of all that excess resources on map and use up hulls and fuel.

Good luck!

Way past you at this point mate...I've already re-adapted my original mod and was able to make the US economy ramp up vis-avis supply production. As a result of the changes the Allies will have a bunch more HI factories...and hence HI points...guess its time for a new thread.

Correct regarding your presumptions on HI expenditure for aircraft. Allied on map production follows exactly the same rules as Japan, except for one, oh so tiny technical factor .. viz there is very little the Allied player can do to manipulate their production. So if the Allies were also capable of producing engines et al or of expanding their aircraft factories, then HI points would also be consumed.

Also share your views on the introduced capability of halting Allied industry production. Unfortunately I very much doubt your objective will be met. Most Allied players who shut down their Heavy Industry seem to limit themselves to doing so only to Australian Heavy Industry. The reason being they want to conserve their fuel stocks in Australia to feed their naval operations. The remaining Heavy Industry production in North America easily produces sufficient HI points to pay for the current on map aircraft production.

To come any where close to achieving your goal, you would need to make all Allied aircraft come from on map aircraft factories only. Then however you come across the problem that historically Allied aircraft production ramps up as the war progresses but you cannot ramp up Heavy Industry production similarly to match the ramped up aircraft production. I don't think starting off with damaged Heavy Industry centres fully compensates.

Anyway there is another problem I see but I'll mention it in the other thread.

It might be a messy alternative, but could monthly convoys with an increasing number of aircraft be a workaround.

I would recommend this for Australian aircraft which arrived from either the UK or USA in 1/2 deliveries rather than the drip feed of the production system.
