Construction Ship Problems

Post by Tanaka »

Is there a way from keeping my construction ships from going halfway across the galaxy to fix abandoned ships when on auto? They also run out of fuel! Stay home and build my economy! [&:]

Well that kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it? [:(]

Also unfortunately the AI cannot do this and it loses all its construction ships to this problem. They stop working on the economy and head off to run out of fuel or get destroyed along the way...

I really wish there were a way to turn off derelict ships and debris fields in the game.
I had no idea the ai was also zooming off to nowhere to do this.

I think the AI ship will go after the far derelicts only if there is nothing else to do at home (at least that was my impression, in my current game only late game happened that the constructors went to a scrapyard which was known long time ago).

So, if nothing else to do, its not bad u get free ships...

And if you don't want your construction ships doing things you don't like you can always give them orders to do what you do want them to do! I never put construction ships on automatic!

I wish that were true but I had a lot of mining opportunities left and many research areas untouched...

Ok, but did you gave orders to build at them, or was they just availible ?

Just cause there are a lot of mining opportunities left and research areas untouched, doesn't mean they were needed as far as the automatic routines for the constructors are concern. You only need so much material and can only support so much research at one time. If you have sufficient resources for both, than the computer won't build it, as you don't need it that leaves the constructors with nothing else to do but repair ships.

I think that if you uncheck "Use original DW storyline" when starting a new game, this turns off the fleets of overpowered ships. You still may find individual ships, but not the 5-10 ship fleets of cruisers, destroyers, etc.

I will definitely do this then can anyone else confirm?
