Why does this task force keep returning to base?

Hi all, more than likely my fault, but why won't this TF remain at sea?

Just a guess w/o seeing what the patrol zones settings are would be that it completes the PZ settings & able to get back to port in one turn.

It says it is going back to replenish. It doesn't need to, but sometimes something gets confused. Clear the patrol zones and tell it to return to Pago Pago. Then reset your patrol zones.

Are all the ships fully armed?

Make sure they've all got ammo, if they don't, they could be trying to rearm.

Just to elaborate on what Dan said, if you set the patrol zone while the ships had a home port of, say, Pearl Harbour, and then switched the home port to Pago Pago, the patrol data would still think it had to return to PH. Not sure if it does a recheck when it actually does end the patrol, but I think not. Therefore the DDs could need to replenish fuel because of the round trip PZ-PH-PZ, but the screen info fuel check says there is enough fuel to go PZ-PP-PP so it is still green.
But my first guess is the ammo replenishment. Unless you have an AE or AKE at Pago-Pago, it may not be able to replenish the carrier or cruiser.

I originally had a 3CV TF which wouldn't sail from Pago Pago (Patrol Zone nr Tarawa, home port Pago Pago), so I changed the commanders (no change), split into three 1 CV TF's , one of which is above, one is right behind it (doing exactly the same thing) and the third (Saratoga) won't even leave Pago Pago (I've disbanded that one to do some minor repairs to hope it will sort it out).

All full of fuel, all fully armed and an AE in Pago Pago.

2 other CV's are covering an invasion of Tabiteau and Arome with no problems at all, which sailed at the same time.

Can anybody think of anything else, as I'd hate to take some losses because of something like this!

Since it's an air combat TF, check the sorties on the carriers....
