But won't the pictures in the Ground combat screens hide some units?

You can also use base ID numbers to change the bombsight picture.

Here's a sample using Google Earth of Bangkok present.

Resave as a bitmap to use.

Rename as Air0000Bombardment_512 for the game to recognize it.
