Suicide Squads and Illogical Attack Units

Post by azpops »

Is it just me or does it seem that there are an inordinate number of suicide squads that rush to a victory point objective and sit there until they are killed, then a new one runs in and does the same thing in order to keep you from getting victory points? I don't recall many armies (except for the Japanese) lasting very long employing suicide squads.

Also, why do indirect fire units (i.e., mortars) and headquarters units lead attacks? Any commander who lead such an attack would deserve to get shot if he lead an attack such a way. A point of play, I just had the 10th SS Panzer Division Headquarters hold up the entire British 43rd Division at the Nijmegen bridge for TWO DAYS. Who leads with a division headquarters, and how could 100 men armed with rifles hold up an entire division for two days? Not realistic in any sense of the word.

Any chance of getting a more realistic AI that actually fights the way the real armies did?
