Unit Colors

Post by ChadS »

I'm a little colorblind, and I tried the -colorBlind switch, but it didn't do anything for me. So, after some searching here, I found that I could probably just edit the on-map icons myself. I found them, and started playing with it, and I think that will work.

But, while looking at the map icon BMPs, I found that there are slightly different shades of some units (like infantry). I had not noticed this while playing, and I haven't found in the manual what the different shades represent.

Do these shades mean something important?

Thanks!

I think I found an answer, after refining my rulebook search. The darker the symbol, the stronger the unit (or larger, anyway).

On most of the nationalities, the colors are so similar, I'd never be able to tell there's a difference, even when they're next to each other. No worries, though. :)

Like you I am color blind and the colorblind switches don't seem to help either I would be interested in your work on this and how to do it. Please PM me with your solution or so as we can hook up by email.

The other day for the first time I noticed the change in color between infantry units of the same nation. Couldn't figure out why. Nothing like taking a minute to read the manual. [;)]
