I can't wait for this mod. I'm a huge fan of Eve and a long-term player (on break at the moment but returning soon because 5 years active playtime obviously isn't enough [:D]) It looks fantastic with what you've done so far and I look forward to seeing it develop further. I can see myself playing with this for months when it's officially released.

Incredible! And here I thought it'd be cool if I added a few shipsets from EVE.. and it turns out I wasn't even the first to think of that. This is awesome, and I can't wait to pick it apart and add all the new races and other bits into my own personal mashup mod. I hope the soon to be announced expansion doesn't break this and all the other awesome mods too badly!

The new expansions allows us to add pirate "factions" instead of raiders? Did Elliot say that already... guess I missed that. Let's see how I can add that in my mod too.
About the mod:
Beautiful quickstart and a nice pace. Even though most of its content is an adjustment from an MMO which only needs a collection and conveyance, the work behind adding the pictures and writing designs and dialogues is quite huge for all of these big theme mods like Star Trek or Mass Effect. But considering the speed and time it consumed to get there already it is not only a good work so far. Its a brilliant result.
Though now that I think about it... do you want to edit the dialogues to match the factions? It is nothing personel, but you said your English needs some polishing. Maybe you should get a proof reader for these? I am sure someone here is native to English and interested in Eve to help you.

Good luck with the scaling issue! I'd love more realism in this area too, but realistically the ships would be invisible if they were scaled according to the planet sizes, and the frigates would be next to invisible compared to supercaps.

I think it helps to think in the terms of a leader looking at a top down view of the map with assistants pushing around little ship models on the map, ala WWII style strategic planning maps. Watch some of the old naval war movies to get a sense of what I am talking about.
In other words, I'm not actually at the battle, just getting a simulated relay of what's going on, and in order for me to see it better, the ships have been enlarged.

Unfortunately the images Lordxorn posted have gone down.
What we found is that you can make a ship look smaller by adding more opaque pixels to the image. If you reduce the opacity of these pixels (more transparent), you can make the ship look much smaller and still see the stars and other objects behind as the ship passes.
A problem with this is when the ship takes damage. The damage texture will appear over the semi-transparent pixels.
The major problem is that we can't make ships appear larger. This is why there are no Borg in my mods.[:(]
I'm really hoping we can customise ship scale with the new expansion. Let's wait and see... [:)]

Would see a basic villager standing beside a house and think "Man, there's no way I could fit ten of him in there. Must be scaled up." Always a good thing to laugh about though. Easily understandable why they do it to be fair. It would be really annoying trying to find your units when they're one or two pixels in size.

Exactly. Just think of yourself as the commander deep inside the ship's CIC and your disbelief is easily suspended. [;)]

- 1st image(O mark) not maching to reality of EVE,, but it's ok
- 2nd image(X mark) is 'scale issue' ingame...
-"the way that ship images are measured (so that they can be drawn at the proper scale) is by comparing the total number of non-transparent pixels in the image to the overall size of the image.
Thus an image of 100 x 100 pixels with a long skinny ship drawn on it, might have 2000 non-transparent pixels on it's total area of 10000 pixels - thus a coverage of 20%.
So when a ship using this image is drawn it will likely be scaled up in size relative to another ship image that might have 50% coverage"

Also, IIRC as you build ships in game, they will scale some based on the space used.
IE a Frigate at 250 space will scale up slightly larger visually compared to a frigate at 125 space. Not sure if this is the case anymore, but I do seem to remember this being the case in the original game.

Regarding the scaling issue:
I remember someone was experimenting with putting 250x250 ships in 1000x1000 transparent pics, which in theory should resolve the scaling problem. However, I'm not sure if such big pictures (although transparent) were slowing down the game loading time. Can anyone recall what was the result of the experiment?

If I recall correctly, it made no difference to the size of the ship. It's as if the game ignores the outside border of transparent pixels.
