I've reinstall java 6 and now it works again! But when i install Java 7 it doesnt work.
How can i not upgrade to java 7 afther some updating for Java.
Should i disable the option to upgrade?
Only i got to use the NO MAP file but that isnt really important.
Maarten,

Go to the post that I wrote up previously where I put that path name in red. That is the secret, including the quotation marks, BTW. You must find where the Java 6 files are located on your system and make that path be equal to that place where the Java 6 files are installed.

You said that you are running Windows 7, yes? Your hard drive is probably drive letter 'c', which is the 'C:' in that path. The '\' immediately following means the top-most level. Do this: click on your windows start menu (lower-left corner of the screen); notice in the right-hand column and item called 'Computer'; click on it.

Now that should open up a window where in the top row (or thereabouts) you see a category 'Hard Disk Drives' and your C: drive should be listed there; click on it.

Now you see a listing of folders. One of them is called 'Program Files' and this is where 64-bit software is installed; another of them is called 'Program Files (x86) and this is where 32-bit software is installed'. Look inside those two folders to see which one has a folder called 'Java'. On my system the 'Java' folder is inside the folder 'Program Files (x86)'. You should have one there too. Click on the folder 'Program Files (x86)'.

There you should see a longer list of folders. One of them is named 'Java'. If you do not see this folder, then you do not have any version of 32-bit Java there. AFAIK tracker requires the 32-bit version of Java. If you don't have it, then you need to install Java 6.35 again. Click on the 'Java' folder.

There you should see a folder named 'jre6' and maybe another named 'jre7'. Click on folder 'jre6'.

There you should see a folder and some files. One folder is named 'bin'. Click on it.

There you will see some folder and some files. One of the files is named 'java.exe'. That is the file that your path statement must point to (although you don't need the '.exe' just the 'java'.

I won't be around most of today but if you don't see all the folders as I mentioned them get back to the forum and likely someone will be able to guide you.

I haven't come across any other issues. WitP AE runs fine since that occurence. I just kind of remember reading something about closing Tracker by not using the exit button would cause problems, a long time ago (or was it for Staff?).

My set up uses 512 and 768.

The current problem is that on Windows 7, Tracker will not run under Java 7. So, if you need to have Java 7 (such as for your browser) then you also need to have Java 6 still there for Tracker. That's what my instructions covered.

Hope that makes it clearer.

Vista is, as I understand it, 98 or 99% the same as Windows 7. The thing to focus on is finding that correct path to where the Java software gets installed on Vista. I don't have a Vista system here to look at, so sorry I can't see that for myself.

Edit the 'witptracker.bat' in the Tracker directory to look like this:

"C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0.17\bin\java" -Xms512m -Xmx640m -jar "WitPTracker.jar"

I am assuming that Java 6 has been installed into the above directory in Program Files based on you earlier screenshot of the Java installs.

When Java updates or installs, I think it asks you to confirm/change the Java directory.
You just need to ensure that any Java7 updates are installed in your Java7 installation directory, with any Java6 going to your Java6 installation.
As long as the different versions of Java are going to different directories, you should be able to keep both present.
By default, one of the two versions of Java will be the primary java. But you can generally force programs to use the other one.

Since upgrading to Win7, I receive a lot of Tracker errors. These errors on occasion cause Tracker to crash. I do not use Java7 (not even installed) and have things setup the same as my XP. I have expanded the memory usage via your recommendations and these errors still occur. The primary way I found to reduce this error (not eliminating) is by parking on Victory Points screen when reading the new turn. Reading the new turn is when the errors occur usually. Also, after reading a few new turns, the chances of a Tracker crash increase.

Are these errors due to my usage of Reluctant Admiral 4.6 ? I'll be glad to post screenies if you do not have immediate ideas on the source of the error.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems w/ your copy of Tracker dude, but on the other hand I think we can eliminate the operating
system as the problem because I'm running Windows 7 on my HP desktop and when I went back to Java 6 my problems went away. Just
trying to help out here. Good luck.

What do the various colors signify in the listing of LCU's? Red means out of supply ? Yellow means? Green means?

If you "park" on a screen that doesn't update based on the save file data (such as Aircraft Comparison), you shouldn't see the errors while reading the turn. I haven't seen any of these that would cause the program to stop working, but there are some database insertion errors I've seen from time to time. I fixed some in the last release and one more in the one being worked on.
Delete the trackerdb.* files.
Copy the pwsdll.dll file from the game folder to the WitPTracker folder.
Try running the WitPTracker.bat again.

Looking at the code:
If the LCU is active and the base has 20,000 supply or more -> green
10,000 or more -> yellow
non-zero -> red
zero -> black
If the LCU is not yet active, the ID is always shown in black.
Delete the trackerdb.* files.
Copy the pwsdll.dll file from the game folder to the WitPTracker folder.
Try running the WitPTracker.bat again.

Thank you floydg, for that answer. And if you were reading from the code it's got to be correct because, as a former computer programmer myself, I know that computers never make a
mistake. Problem is, I'm not sure I know now, how to use those categories to fix things etc. It is good to know though. Not knowing was mysterious.

Here is a pic of one of the errors I get. This time I only had read one turn and I 'parked' on the plane compare screen. The error occurred after a period of time doing nothing in particular.

This error I know about - it is caused by the tool tip for the AirProduction screen - if you mouse over the total engines ... my fault and will be fixed next release.

Thanks N. Btw- you said you never saw anything cause Tracker to stop responding, but its not that. What actually happens is it starts to read a turn and then Tracker just crashes. The usual press any button to close the window then occurs. Next time this happens, I'll be sure to snap a pic to post here. I have been operating under the assumption it has been caused by RA 4.6. The only difference from my XP machine setup and this Win7 machine is the OS and the fact that I was playing RA4.2 previously.
