Afternoon chaps [:)] Looks like your favourite Limey is going to be on TV. No, not sprior. Or Goodboyladdie. [:-] Obviously they've fast tracked me, I'm far too big-time for regional news. Instead I'm hitting the national news [X(] on the BBC no less. Presumably this is something to do with the RAF employing the less-able elements of society, such as myself [:D]

Or it's to do with the passing of the last Battle of Britain veteran.

Martin, you'll have to let us know the details of the broadcast when you know them. [:)]

BBC News at 6pm. I was in shot for seconds. Literally seconds! I have to say that the archive footage used was a bit poor. I don't remember the Luftwaffe sending formations of Flying Fortresses against the airfields or Fighter Command using P-47s. Or the Luftwaffe using Bf-109G fighters.

Oh well, now I just sit back and wait for the requests to flood in. I expect to be opening a hospital this time next week [:D]

Wow! I just had a thought of what a P-47 would'a done against some flying pencil or He-111. Well, a man can dream, can't he? As for those B-17s: Sorry about that, mate. We musta got turned around en route to the reich or somesuch. [:(]

Hmmm...double post. Sorry about that. I feel terrible about pumping up my post count with duplicative nonsense like that. [:D]

Coming to a film near you soon! Das Munich Belle, the story of how 10 young men from America won the Battle of Britain for Germany, becoming the first crew to finish a tour. But then they realised their mistake and fought for the Brits before returning home to the US and joining the USAAF to defeat Japan.

Could be a good project for Tom Cruise? Or Ben Affleck, I admire his previous work in historical dramas.

Nice Martin - send us a link if / when you find it! [:)]

BTW, reporters are as ignorant as ever (if not even more) these days... <SIGH>

Most (90+%) of them have no clue about history... and popular satellite / cable programs doesn't help either... the "history" they present on various channels is appalling... [:(]

Few days ago I saw (partially of course - my wife told me that I was swearing at TV shouting that what they show is ridiculous):

#1
Seconds from Disaster - The Bismarck

The premise was that the UK would surrender if Bismarck mission succeeded (and, of course that Bismarck was biggest and strongest battleship of all times)... [&:][:@]

#2
Greatest Tank Battles - Stalingrad

The premise was that Soviets would capitulate if Germans won in Stalingrad... [&:][:@]

Well, they would have surrendered, wouldn't they? I mean weren't they perennially on the verge of surrendering throughout both world wars? Cuz nuthin' says surrender like the Brits, IMO.

Also, Bismarck was the best battleship of all time. Until she was scuttled. [:D]

"History" on TV is nothing more than "entertainment." If you think of it that way, sometimes you get pleasantly surprised by an actual fact. [:D]

I have enjoyed the "Men Who Built America" series every Tuesday night so far...even if the characters look nothing like their real life counterpart.
