Hello MichaelM,

I just runned into a problem and i´m unsure if this is wad or maybe a bug.

So far i thought engine R&D works pretty similar to airframe R&D when it comes to collecting R&D points.
But it seems different.

I have 4 fully repaired factories for the Ha-45 engine.
70/70/80/100

That are 320 engines per month and i thougth this would accelerate that engine type 3 times per month.
Since this didn´t happen i opened the last 10 turns again and noted the R&D advance.
Only 4 points per day, 1 per factory, 40 points in 10 days. Can this be that the size of the engine fac doesn´t matter here ?
Are the 320 engines per month only true for real production and not (longer) for R&D or is this a bug ?

A high investment of supply early in the game that doesn´t pay off as much as i thought yet.

Can you help me and tell me the rules for engine R&D ? Did you change something there ?
From manual it should work like plane R&D and then it is definitely wrong !

It is scenario 2, beta patch 1118e.

Engine R&D is capped at 1 point per factory, regardless of factory size.

Thank you, sadly the manual is telling something different.

What do we need ?
A reworked or corrected PDF-Manual. There were so many changes over all the patches that
reading the manual is sometimes no good advice.

I already changed a fifth factory to Ha-45 (size 30).....

The code is same for a/c and engine RD.
Size: 70 + random(30):
Divide by 30 = 2
Divide by 10 = 0
Fully repaired + 1 = 1
Max value:3 RD per day

The calculations are based on each factory production, not total production.

@Michael,

In my case i don´t have any max/min value. I had a fixed rate of 4 rd points per day
for the last 10 days for all my factories together. Thats what the game tells me at least.
The facs in post 1 are of course all fully repaired.

One part of your formula i don´t understand:
It is the red part:

Size: 70 + random(30):
Divide by 30 = 2
Divide by 10 = 0
Fully repaired + 1 = 1
Max value:3 RD per day

I get a bonus point when the factory is repaired ?? So far i thought i accumulate RD points only if the engine fac is completely repaired.
Or what is this point good for ?

Then another question for your example formula. Sorry, school was over a while ago [:'(]

But can also be 3 in case the random number is bigger than 20, or ?

Just to make sure i can follow the formula

One per day would be correct.
You would need a fully repaired factory of about 300 (ignoring the random(x)) to get 2 a day.

The max value is the cap per day per factory.

Yes, extra point if factory fully repaired. Which it needs to be in order to get the RD.
For size 70, the size for the turn could be 70 to 99. Which equates to 2 to 3 after divide by 30.
Still comes out as '0' when divided by 10.
This is where the 'bonus' gives you a minimum of '1' RD per day per factory (for 30+).

Men, that´s really important to know. Thank you !

Knowing this before i would have build up my engine R&D different.
